I understand, a couple of other guys have made that point, now. I didn't get it... that a, or the reason, for the sub is to re-enforce the idea that being in a couple with a woman is undesireable for all of the reasons laid out in the posts that I am reading... It serves a purpose, an it isn't for every man who is resolved to remain single

This never occurred to me, and seems like the perfect analogy. It isn't difficult for me to be without a wife or girlfriend, but I would like to have more men in my life who are talking about something other than the wife/family they do or do not have... And that's exactly like me showing up on r/stopdrinking and asking why everyone has to write about what sucks about alcohol all of the time, instead of talking about what's good with being sober. What I love is - I can travel to take whatever work I can win for myself, it isn't all that hard to keep a decent enough roof over my head - so when I wanted to quit working for a year to hike the AT... that was easy enough to do. The liberty that comes from being just reasonably healthy, and having…

the young man who just posted about feeling like an outsider for not having/not wanting a girlfriend... not wanting to feel excluded, but still not wanting a girlfriend.... that makes sense to me, that's a challenge. There's about a zillion places to go to talk to men who are bitching about women. Do you have a place in your life where men are talking about establishing lives that do revolve around what they want for themselves?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
