Ernst Yonning, chief jurist and professor of law. 'We thought it would pass, that it was just a fad'.

That confirms my gut reaction but I can see allowing those outliers who volunteer and who can fight and kill.

Draft, yes. Combat, hmmm. Selective/voluntary I think yes but I would not make it universal or mandatory without a lot of study and trials.

This is my experience also, I had a time explaining to younger coworkers why they needed to care about change control (quite a long time ago).

In 30 years I met a couple but really only one that was outstanding though more at the whole approach to problem solving. She was a good coder but the trick is knowing what to code and Gitika was excellent - trained as an architectect she came to US and retrained in CS.

This is very true. A good deal of early male socialization (ex: school sports) is about teaching youngsters how to cooperate on common goals, preventing aggression and natural conflict from degenerating into them killing each other. Men are able to put aside their differences and cooperate in situations that women simply cannot. Men learn quickly it's unhelpful to have a wife/gf assistance on home projects. Most women do not 'get' sympathetic cooperation, of course some men don't either.

I would say that your understanding of it will change how you feel about it. Keep thinking and try to remember that this whole thing is the result of aeons of successful adaptation, it's not malicious, it's just biology trying to get its way. As for making life better, well that's pretty subjective, keep thinking and seek balance. Only you can find a way. 'and the truth shall set you free'

I take your word for it. Also there's Hedy Lamarr the pin-up girl who first conceived of secure frequency-agile radio communications during WWII.

Trite, snarky comment from a 1 day old account - I do not respect. Also, men didn't just invent the internet you know, men invented everything. Everything you touch in the course of your miserable day was either invented, shaped, built or designed by a man. Have a nice day.

I'm 62. I've known these things for many decades though never been able to articulate them well. I can't tell you how impressed and buoyed I am at finding this emerging awareness which frankly I feel my generation (every older generation in fact) should have been articulating all along. That said however, the urge to believe the fairy tales is overpowering and only personal experience can truly drive home the reality. Sorry about your discomfort but welcome to adulthood.

The 'sexually' qualifier castrates that option, it's overly selective. Being sexually free is just the tip of the iceberg of benefits you will receive by never, ever letting yourself become financially dependent on a woman not already in your family.

It's disingenuous to compare male and female circumcision. Female circumcision is an act of aggression performed to deliberately rob a woman of her sexuality, of her personal power so she can be more easily controlled and that's hardly true of male circumcision regardless of anecdotal accounts about it's effect. I've never heard of a culture that circumcises both their male and female children. And what am I to do about my children maybe resenting my choices for them? Not make choices? You do yo…

What you want is to have your values codified into law and forced on everyone else exactly like pro-life religious nutbags. I do not have your faith in your judgment.

Like I said, now is your chance to make culture reflect your values but influencing culture with laws is bullshit. And I reserve the right to make whatever decisions I choose regarding my kids until they're adults. Are you going to prohibit ALL parental decisions until children are old enough to decide for themselves? Religion? Education? Vaccination?

Bullshit. Four accusers, established facts including payouts to victims, recurring similar stories, and Cain declares WHO YOU GONNA BELIEVE? ME OR YOUR LYING DAMN EYES When it's as unimportant as candidate for president let's all withhold judgment until all the facts are in and he's already permuted the fuck out of the election process. /sarcasm

It's wrong to attempt to require or forbid exercising personal choice concerning my body or my childrens bodies in this and many other matters. When you were born it was culturally accepted, if you want to change that then have at it, it's yours to do now, but fuck you if you think passing laws banning or requiring is the way to do it. tldr: fuck no

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
