Rock on sister! Dignified silence is the way to go. I've done a bit of angry sharing, and it didn't feel good. So I've stopped. Feels better 😊

Good luck sis! It sucks that you have to work so hard to get health care. A basic right.

So can you use this knowledge about yourself to help you go forward? I'm trying out weekly planning (for work stuff). Early days though, lol

Passive aggressive was my go to, lol. I would always say i was fine when I was angry instead of saying what I felt. I was a bad communicator. Still am, but working on it.

So pretend you are your own best friend? Be your own best friend, be as kind to yourself. You may not have achieved... whatever, yet. But you will 😊

Haha, I am beyond relationships. I am like the Dalai fucking lama, universal love is all there is 😄

I feel you. Sometimes in a relationship it's hard to work out what is your problem, what is their problem, and where the boundaries are. What is great about being single is it gives you time to think about your boundaries, define them, and then let them guide your next relationship. Best of luck to you sister ❤

I find that it helps to imagine talking to myself as I would talk to my best friend. We are so much kinder to our friends! It also helps to know that we are all flawed humans with insecurities, you are not alone 😊.

Lol, my wife is hotter than your wife. Ego.

That's a shame. I'm probs a generation older than you, had been through some of those experiences and could recognise the (ugly) truth of it. I had hoped it would be a warning rather than a validation. 😪

Agreed. I hope for his future partners that he realises, deeply, how damaging his insecurities are for other people that he "loves".

Thank God! So did watching Girls help or hinder in your case? I'm curious about how this type of narrative impacts people. I only watched the show becoz my daughter got me into it. I strongly disliked Hannah for the longest time, lol.

Those early scenes in the series were painful to watch, but also brutally honest. Hats off to Lena for showing that. I don't think she was glorifying it, just showing it. Better to know what you you are fighting.

I loved the character arc for Rebecca! It took a few seasons to get there, but In the end she chose herself. It was a wild ride, but totally worth it. One of my fave shows 😊

Fair point. I agree that's not good enough. But I still think that some degree of reflection and acknowledgement of crappy behaviour is a step in the right direction.

It's a shame that it takes him hearing about his sister being abused to wake up to what he was also doing, but credit to him for acknowledging it and wanting to change. Let's face it, most of us are driven by insecurity no matter what gender.

You are no longer blind, that's awesome! Painful as it is, better to acknowledge it. You will get over it, and you will be better than before 😊 If I had any advice, it would be not to compare your post-breakup life with his. It's a trap I have to remind myself not to fall into (frequently, lol).

So, he wants the exact right amount of commitment. Not much from him but more from her. That really is wanting your cake, lol

Ugh, that "not like other girls" trope triggers me. It really encourages divisiveness and competition instead of love and respect for all ways of being female.

Learn to juggle! It's great for eye-hand coordination, your brain neuro-plasticity plus it's lots of fun 😊.

Fun fact, Picasso did this. Sat there and watched while his 2 mistresses literally had a physical altercation over him. What a douche.

My understanding of sex positivity is that it is an acceptance of sexuality as being part of human nature. Without judgement of how you express it, or with whom you express it. So I think if women can embrace this on our own terms (outside of male narratives), it can only be a good thing? Who cares what conservative or liberal men think?

I don't even know if I like a person within one week. That's ridiculous IMO. But that's just me.

If you feel weird about it then back out. You're instincts are you your best guide. Don't over think it.

Short answer, yes, you can be happily single as an older woman. But I've done marriage and kids so I'm pretty sure we're not coming from the same place.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
