THIS. I was looking for stuff like this as well! Most likely all of you knew already, these arguments pop up the most.

I'm struggling with the not trying to "attack it" portion. Somehow I feel like I did make things worse in a way. When I had zero idea things were this bad, I told him to research and verify the validity of their claims if he doesn't believe me. Even when I don't contest it, he will keep asking my opinion and make an ultimatum of either I participate or he will rage on me. Finally, we don't typically have it come up in conversation. However, it becoming a part of the conversation becomes volatile…

Thank you everyone for the resources you provided me and the insight so far!

That seems to be what I'm currently dealing with. He gets enraged before even fully listening to feedback. As soon as what I say is antithetical to what he believes, he gets upset and keeps saying I'm "wrong" until I stop talking to him, or he will stop talking to me. The most ridiculous part for me is funny enough his claim that I'm not qualified nor is he qualified to question a science journal because he believes "they did the work". Pure fallacy. We see children in schools "do the work," cre…

At most goes to work and goes out to run errands. Anything else is either the friend or me.

My assurance is more of a "recognize and praise yourself for staying focused and motivated to finish your degree" than "you're so smart". I've been told I'm smart all my life and I know how hard it is to believe when you are bombarded by that. It helped my self-esteem to see my tangible accomplishments and reflect on those and what I may find significant. So I try to highlight the work and effort as a guide. I really thought I was avoiding sounding manipulative. And yes, it is a cult. I have nev…

He's reading that guy right now, ugh... I have never found something as stressful as trying to reason with him and this RP stuff. You have literally outlined how the conversation goes on those topics verbatim. If you told me this was on my BINGO board a few years ago, I would have never believed it. I would have never guessed I'd waste any of my youth on these kinds of "conversations".

I am and we've been together since of college and a couple years out. He has been stonewalling me more often when I tell him how I feel when I don't like something he is doing. There is another commenter here who said I should watch out for the 12 steps of dread tactics. He seems to be doing something of the sort. He said he wants to leave me so I left our shared room. Do I believe that? No. He will say that then want to be around me and miss me. I absorb too much of his negative emotions when I…

I read it and I'm sick to my stomach. To work so hard to have attention and control in a relationship. It's both disgusting and pathetic. He has literally been reading the book they mentioned: The Rational Male by Rollo. This is helping me pull the pieces together better.

Seems like both flattery and his actual view to me.

Lol. I'm sure you mean it in jest. I'm glad FOX vs CNN isn't and actual argument between us.

It's the same story here. I tried doing the same because I am analytical by nature. If I see an issue, I should talk to my partner and figure out if something js wrong and how we can fix that issue. Circular arguments ensue and get stuck in a kinda of 'did the chicken or the egg come first' argument. Every conversation in which I disagree can be construed as an argument. Recently, it got better marginally. What's funny is somehow I'm AWALT to him, but he believes that I "want him to have resourc…

I was reading about it and saw that it does seem familiar. Plausible too. Unfortunately for him, I don't operate that way. There are "relationship coaches" egging this on it seems starting from the first Google page. Personally, I don't think he wants to lose me. But i won't allow it to be at my expense..

Quicksand is not a bad model to use tbh. He is the type to tell you he can get out the quicksand by himself, refuse the stick, sink more, and then subsequently tell you that trying to help him emasculated him because it implies he can't do it himself. As for the second metaphor, he would claim to be able to quit anytime. The degree doesn't seem to override the emotional part of it nor the bias with which he is reading these journals. I watched him look up evidence on his computer and the usage o…

It has been floating in my mind since he started indirectly quoting those podcasters in his daily speech. You would think he was quoting the bible without mentioning the bible was the source to generally socialize.

It's really ridiculous to me when I am asked for evidence and asked to share my thoughts, then I'm invalidated immediately when it is contrary to RP rhetoric. Not giving me much confidence in talking it out, but here I am.

Sounds to me like we have a similar mindset in that respect. I said the same as he listed out these arguments. Of course, this was not taken well at all. He said I'm "overcomplicating things" and insisted that my point was invalid. That retort is becoming more and more frequent it seems. Maybe like the other comments said, I just need to put down the sword here and simply walk away. As for studies that prove it, his yield (after a thorough review) proved none of the sort. He won't show me anythi…

Indeed this situation feels worse than fighting over whether Fox News or CNN should be on TV during Christmas dinner.

Super bone chilling indeed. But apparently to him, I'm "an exception to the rule" that AWALT (all women are like this) and the only problem he has is that I don't believe in this RP stuff. He believes I'm the one with cognitive dissonance because "all of the proof is biologically proven" and he "doesn't understand how someone as intelligent as me could disregard science". When he started with the RP business, it was like he was possessed, and some stranger took his face and place.

Thanks! I'll check those out. I tried before even all these conversations to get him up and out the house. I tried planning dates and even encouraged him to see his friends or at least talk to them more often. He will only talk to one guy out of his friends. This guy he talks to has waaay less experience in the world than he does and validates his RP speech. During the summer and fall, I was able to get him to go outside with me to play sports. Small victory there.

Which is why I'm at a loss of how to talk to someone who earned a degree in Neuroscience and took psychology courses only to end up this way. He is insecure about things in regards to himself, but I only gave him security and assurance. We all may have had some insecurities, but it's really about how we address them and how we show love to ourselves (at least that was my approach). I just saw today that he is starting to tune into Rollo Tomassi's book and he wants to write a book on all this him…

Previously, he actually sat me in front of a journal he was reading and claimed that it proved his point of view. I read it and pointed out the scope of the research (what are the variables, what they do and do not account for, how to read the charts/graphs, etc). He told me I was "over complicating things" and "discrediting people who knew more and did more research" than me. We both have STEM degree backgrounds. It's awful for me to hear when someone with a STEM degree doesn't thoroughly disse…

And keep in mind how contradictory it is for them to claim that women are manipulative masterminds but also easy to manipulate inferior beings. We all have heard similar kinds of claims before and seen it associated with other extremist groups and what tactics they use.

I tried that calm method and would get cut off and told I "haven't done nearly as much research" as him. Since we have known each other for years and have been close, I thought talking to him about it would be fine. Watching these repill podcasters have made his reactions more volatile when we talk about the topic. By his reactions, you would think I called his mama a llama (I'm censoring myself here for the other word). Very stressful to keep it calm even if I am. But I do appreciate the though…

You have a very good point there. It really isn't on me to debate him out of this. He has spent an excessive amount of time on it since he came across it. The conversations aren't even normal conversations and are very draining.

Agreed. I think he needs to talk to an actual person outside of me about this, especially one specializing in these topics.

Thank you for taking the time to type all of this out. Very concise. I've noticed that too since watching these redpill people to get a grasp of what exactly they are saying. My current bf has literally quoted them word for word and has used science journals as "proof that what these podcasters said is true". FD Signifier has good content and he explains it well.

That's not why I'm here. My bf is into the rhetoric. While I know what and why the redpill rhetoric is false and these people are grifters, this is not my best speaking area and I need resources to help him understand.
