You're right. We should give up and let the next generation deal with these issues once they are more firmly entrenched.

According to that definition men can get raped. However, also according to that definition, women cannot commit rape.

Standing by him includes recognizing that his race was a contributing factor to his death. If you arent doing that you arent standing by him, your just virtue signaling.

Hard to say when nobody will present any data honestly. Does the degree of discrimination really matter? You concede it's there, why are you trying to undermine it? I asked for evidence and you have not presented ANYTHING. Just baseless claims Ok then. I thought you were familiar with these statistics. I didnt realize youd never read them https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/investigations/police-shootings-database/

first step to eliminating discrimination is to prove it exists, Do you not think black people are discriminated against? I don't support the notion that blacks are being killed disproportionately without any actual evidence being presented The evidence is there. You just wont see it.

you would have to assume violent criminals are no more likely than law abiding people to get into a dangerous encounter with police Your premise is backwards. Nothing your saying is new to me. I've heard all these racist arguments before and they dont add up. If you want to pat yourself on the back and pretend that police deal with white and black men the same then go for it. But you're wrong. But for the third time I'll ask, you dont support black men?

My stats are simple because they focus on one issue and the measurable effect of that. You want to dress up your white supremacy go ahead but you arent fooling anyone. Would you also conclude,on the same basis, that men and women commit exactly the same number of violent crimes, since they are each 50% of the population ... no. I would use the raw number of men and women who are killed by police regardless of perceived criminality. See that's where your racism shows. You keep trying to dismiss t…

You're starting from sn assumption and working backwards rather than actually looking at the data No I'm not. I'm using a simple formula and the stats it produces are equally simple. Many of your arguments want me to supply data that quite honestly doesnt exist, and often time if it does, its skewed by institutional racism. For instance, police in the us arent required to release the manner or number of deaths of people in its custody to watchdog organizations. In the case of George Floyd, they …

If black people are comitting more crimes, police are more likely to run into them, arrest them, and be in a situation where they can create a flimsy excuse for it. And this is it right here. Are they committing more crimes? Or are they being targeted at a higher rate? Cant really tell can we? That's a very contentious issue in and of itself. So instead, we look at the number of black men killed by police as a ratio of the entire black population. Then we compare that in the same way to the numb…

Because you're cherry picking the data. If I eat 12 out of 13 burgers and 12 out of 100 French fries then I ate almost all the burgers but not very many French fries even tho I ate 12 of each.
/r/MensRights03/06/20 03:17 AM

Its compared to total pop. That's exactly how the data should be presented. If you cherry pick the data you can make it say whatever you want. The stats are readily available if you care to look for them and it's clear that black men in the us are 2.5 times as likely to be killed as white men.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said they need to feel validated. My friends ex was huge on female superiority and the mother earth/goddess ideal. Unfortunatly in many cases it's not the identification of mental health issues thats gets missed it's the getting the help they need part.

I was being a bit rhetorical but it was because I've wrestled with the idea previously. I intellectually agree with Lewis (and certainly for crimes caused by mental health issues) but sometimes as the victim of a crime, I feel like deterrent is preferable. Obviously I know that's an emotional response to feeling powerless and in the long run not in anyone's best interest but it's a very real response that many people have.

I didnt directly link because I'm on mobile. I didnt address false accusations because that wasnt what I was talking about. Those are obviously bad. Join the circle jerk. My point was that if you arent qualified and committed you shouldn't be a teacher. Male or female matters less than those two things. I may not of expressed my point perfectly but that's what it was. You're still proving my point. This sub has many toxic members. I wonder why I dont post here more often?

Meh, theres a shit ton of hypocrisy in this sub too. If you put a post up about why a tech company hiring women based on gender instead of ability is a bad thing you'll be lauded as an intellectual giant. Mention that men should be hired based on ability in women dominated industry's and you'll get crucified. A lot of the people here are toxic. MRM earned their reputation same as rfems have. The truth is somewhere in the middle, as always.

You still aren't answering the question tho are you? My point: the guy I responded to initially would've been a shitty teacher and I'm glad he chose another career. You know anything to show this to be false I'm all ears.

Answer the question. What's your point? I've stated many reasons why I don't think he'd be a good teacher. I'm glad he didn't pursue it. He's glad he didn't pursue it. What's your actual point?
/r/MensRights04/10/17 07:30 PM

So someone who doesnt make it over those hurdles won't finish their degree right? Doesn't matter if it's fair. Doesn't matter if it offends you. Doesn't matter how great a guy he is. He isn't a qualified teacher. I don't want unqualified teachers. Do You?
/r/MensRights04/10/17 07:14 PM
1

Nice goalpost move, since this was never the discussion OK then distill your point to a few sentences so I understand it. Right... because anyone not willing to starve would be a shitty teacher... Again, I've never said this. You're arguing against points I'm not making.
/r/MensRights04/10/17 06:49 PM
1

They didn't finish. They aren't qualified. Not controversial at all. You don't like my gloating that fine. Doesn't change the fact he would have made a shitty teacher and I'm glad he pursued another career.
/r/MensRights04/10/17 06:41 PM
1

Can't/won't/choose not to finish university? Then you can't do the job that requires you to have that degree. Not complicated and uncontroversial. Just because we need more male teachers doesn't mean that they should be held to different standards. Even the guy I responded to said he was glad he did something different.
/r/MensRights04/10/17 06:34 PM
1

And we discussed willing vs able. So I should support a teacher who isn't able to do their job? If they can't do it I'm glad they aren't a teacher. You should be too.
/r/MensRights03/10/17 10:01 PM
1

No. I said if he wasn't willing to finish his degree he wasn't committed enough. I said I was homeless before I went back to university. Trying reading responses before you reply to them.

Like i keep saying If someone isn't committed I don't want them at my school. The person I responded to said it fell through and they were happy. Guess what? I am too. I don't want a shitty staff member just because they're male. It's a hard and thankless job. If you can be easilly dissuaded then go start another career you'll like more. And I was starving BEFORE I was a teacher. Would you like some reading comprehension help?
/r/MensRights02/10/17 06:55 PM
1

When I decided to go back to university and become a teacher I was homeless. If it's important to you you'll find a way. If not then you're not the caliber of human I want teaching in my school. You keep clinging to that one excuse tho. Nobody has ever done anything after a car accident I'm sure.

Thrre are 100 000 reasons not to do anything hard. If your committed to it you'll find a way. In the 6 years it took me to become a teacher I took in ~90k debt, had 3 deaths in my immediate family, had a daughter, and had to fight like he'll to graduate both my degrees with a 3.8 gpa. If I had gotten into a car accident I still would have graduated because I was committed to being a teacher. Just being male isn't enough you also have to want to do it bad enough that you'll push through obstacles…

A dick whos speaking truth. "Things fell through" for them which means they weren't committed enough to post secondary education and most likely would've been a shitty teacher. Downvote me all you want I'm not wrong.

I remember members of 'outrage' chaining themselves to churches and many other radical approaches I don't consider nonviolent protests to be particularly radical. A radical approach would be gunning gown the congregation. parades and events after we're also amazing ways gays got recognition. And the parades are incredibly inclusive. I don't recall hearing about much more than parades and court challenges. The inequality and oppression of lbgt people was shown to be unjust by highlighting things like gay beatings and discrimination. Then constitutional challenges ensured they had legal recourse against crimes based on their sexuality (aka hate crimes). Where exactly do the radicals fit into this?

This argument had been bothering me and I finally figured out why. It seems to me like you keep saying it's okay to hate feminists without bothering to make the distinction between the people and the movement. If you change "feminism" (or buddhist) to "christian" it sounds like this is what your saying: "Anti-christian is valid viewpoint because Christianity has done terrible things throughout history". While this would be a true statement it doesn't address the fact that individual christians c…

I have a complaint with anyone who won't engage in a meaningful conversation unfortunately those people rarely listen. I don't expect rfems to go away any more than they expect the "cigar-smoking-backroom-boys-club" to disappear. I just think the language is needlessly divisive and that isn't helping people respect each other.
/r/MensRights21/04/14 02:44 AM

True enough. I just think that some people will mistake the term "anti-feminist" to mean just that attitude but towards all women instead. I don't argue the definition or weather or not it's a valid argument. I just think it will turn moderates away from discussion when they hear it. It's seems millitant and non-inclusive.
/r/MensRights21/04/14 02:37 AM

Shouldn't we be trying to broaden everyones perspective? Ya, okay. That makes sense. It just seems difficult to see an ideal that is negative as a good thing. The term just seems so charged to me.

A way to frame this which may help you be less frustrated may be to think of it as for your protection. If you always have a third party nearby then you will never have to worry about baseless allegations.

I try to keep the conversation away from generalizations and talk to them specifically about how my views from theirs and why. If they can't have a civil discussion I don't care who they are and I certainly don't need to waste my time arguing with someone who is too close-minded to hear another opinion.
/r/MensRights21/04/14 12:37 AM

If that's true then it logically follows that the radical feminists assertion that "all MRA's advocate the oppression of women" is also true. I think we can both agree that it isn't. Feminism is diverse. A good example would be the support given from feminist organisations across Canada to /u/William_Red in his efforts to start some shelters for men.
