2	Monk Life While I can't be certain, I know that Zen Buddhism originated from Chan Buddhism so I would imagine there would be a lot of similarity, hopefully you can find the group that are right for your own path. 4	Monk Life I am a Zen Buddhist myself and I attend retreats regularly (haven't quite decided if I want to take monastic vows or not), the person that led that retreat is either a zealot or simply doesn't understand Buddhism, we place value on finding ones own path, the teachings laid down by our predecessors are supposed to guide us, and provide food for thought as we strive toward enlightenment on our own path. 1	Daily Routines? Prior to the pandemic, wake up around 6:30, work out for 30 minutes to an hour, have a shower, get ready for work, walk to work, work from 9-5, get home, cook something, do my freelance work from around 6-9,that varies a bit depending how much work I can get though, then spend a couple hours reading, playing video games, whatever I feel like before heading to bed.
