and this applies to child sexual abuse too...who's more likely to make a false complaint than a kid? that's one big reason why I can't get behind the idea of false allegations. the last thing a predator needs is another excuse to say their victims are lying.

my whole point has been that's it's not easy to do, not that it can't happen. when people talk about this, they make it sound like it's easy to make false allegations. I wanted to show that's it's more difficult, like any other complaint you make about a crime.

that's why I posted about making rape a civil lawsuit. I wouldn't argue about that one as much (not that victims shouldn't be taken srsly). why would anyone choose making a criminal case, when they could make $ instead and have an easier time.

no, the first sentence of the article is: Burlington police say an 18-year-old's accusations of sexual assault by two police officers are "unfounded and do not bear comment or investigation." and you called me a troll wow. I don't think you're interested in proof. but, just copy and paste into google: convicted of rape and no jail and here's the link anyway: https://www.google.com/search?q=convicted+of+rape+no+jail&rlz=1C1GGRV_enUS748&oq=convicted+of+rape+no+jail&aqs=chrome..69i57.3391j0j7&sourc…

umm, all the stories you can find are filled with anecdotes. including the one you linked, and the police refused to investigate after all...

also, rape can be a civil lawsuit. so if you were talking about someone suing for rape and wanting 100K in damages, then I'd agree it'd be more likely to be false. although I feel like ppl should still help the victims more, by not mocking them. but a false criminal case doesn't really make sense. it's more for the victim to have to prove and way more involved.

it's not always stigmatized or ignored. this story is really recent: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/christian-school-reportedly-told-12-year-old-his-alleged-rape-was-boys-being-boys_us_599327a3e4b0091416404199

well, this link shows a version of the process, and how useless it was for her: http://www.xojane.com/it-happened-to-me/it-happened-to-me-i-regret-reporting-my-rape-to-the-police

here, I replied to another comment on here with this so may as well put it here. I felt like there was nothing to prove since it's so easy to find...but, this woman describes the interrogation and why it was all useless: http://www.xojane.com/it-happened-to-me/it-happened-to-me-i-regret-reporting-my-rape-to-the-police

and here's one more. it's about a woman who called the cops, couldn't do a rape kit due to trauma, and she describes the interrogation. her case was suspended and the guy never caught: http://www.xojane.com/it-happened-to-me/it-happened-to-me-i-regret-reporting-my-rape-to-the-police

you didn't mention regular people still mocking the victim. but no, it's very common for this to happen, here's a link to NY Post about a college girl getting raped and the cops laughed. she had a rape kit too. I could find plenty of stores like this: http://nypost.com/2016/09/13/unc-student-i-was-raped-by-football-player-and-campus-police-laughed

yeah, the assaulted don't report a lot of the time for that exact reason. and after they do report, they can get mocked even more. I wish it was handled better too.

the police interrogations can be really traumatizing for victims, and the cops might even mock them, like here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/rape-victims-report-police_us_57ad48c2e4b071840410b8d6 and then regular people will mock lots of victims too, after they try to report. it's really difficult to risk wrecking your name by making the rape public.

a grown man only got 45 days in jail for raping a 14 year old: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/05/01/sir-young-rapist-gets-light-sentence_n_5251116.html it's very common to get little or no jail time, and zero prison time, even for the few rapes that do end in convictions.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
