If anything, neediness and dependency can often become harmful components in a relationship. My guess to your question would be the genre of Romanticism. Note that romanticism or romance are not synonymous with love. Romance is defined as mystery and excitement, and romanticism movement in literature was associated with portraying larger than life characters and gestures and such- albeit not necessarily attached to plots or characters involved in a love based dynamic.
