And they're your fault.

Poland. I used to live in a city with a very high unemployment rate and lots of petty crime in the 90s. Not very many murders or rapes though, mainly clashes between local groups of males.

You were less likely to get jumped when with a girl when I was a teen. Girls were way safer when walking alone. This may not be universal but it was true where I lived.

They don't talk about them that much. Positive emotions are expressed by sharing with others. Men for example make fun of their buddies who get engaged. They won't say "I'm proud of you", they will high five and say something like "yeah you're lost now man". They do stuff together and digest the emotions by engaging in communal activity. Negative emotions can be expressed by talking about what happened but not necessarily naming the emotion. Some emotions simply have different names. I'm not ang…

Controversial but therapy was designed around women and how they communicate emotions. Sometimes "men need therapy" is just an inability to accept that men are different and express emotions differently.

That's much more common than men taking up too much space. Aww little baggie's tired?

Individuals who belong to oppressed groups suffer because of narrowed opportunities, internalized oppression and systemic bias - leftist view. Men suffer because of their own choices which are manifestations of their unconstrained free will and individual agency - libertarian view. There's a cunning bias against the oppressed hiding here because they're implying that the oppressed lack agency.

"leftist" activists using libertarian arguments because it's about men now.

No 10 is just weak. Taking out the trash and holding the door? More like "men are held personally accountable by default for dealing with anything requiring actual problem solving, regardless of skill, experience and physical ability". Idk, you're a man, figure it out!

It's sad that children are being set up for ideological wars at school instead of being taught life skills and confidence. Life shouldn't be about being on the right side of history. Sorry for that to happen to you. But do not linger on the resentment, especially towards your sister and girls your age. Understand that the teachers here are abusers who should be responsible for your well-being first, regardless of gender, and they're not doing their job.

Don't quote the Iliad, it's a work of fiction. The proper response is that who causes wars is irrelevant to those who die. If you really want an example go with Thatcher and the Falkland conflict and ask if by their logic should only women have gone to war because it was declared by a woman?

Gender studies is not a science and therefore doesn't hold any claim on fact or truth and therefore shouldn't be used to signify any sort of expertise. Saying "I'm a gender studies student" in a very generous take means at most "I've been thinking and reading about this a lot but you shouldn't treat anything I say as having any relationship to reality".

Retirement age is higher for men in many countries. Even though men live shorter, work more hours and effectively put more money into the pension system. It's the clearest sign that men matter less that's out there. It doesn't get more institutional than that. Yet everyone just accepts that it's the way it should be.

It all depends on what we hold as valuable when interpreting history. Certainly recently public success and holding positions of power have been identified as more desirable than being unnoticed and anonymous. This is an individualistic and narcissistic take which follows from the idea that individual expression is the ultimate goal of life. People who are remembered, who have expressed their will on the world, who have earned power are the ideals in this worldview. The modern progenitor of this…

But it's not something that's culturally repressed in the mainstream, breakfast-TV-school-psychologist narrative! If anything, "girls getting together" is championed and cheered.

Are you crazy? You're not allowed to have any female friends. They're competition. We can have friends, i.e. we can see other people as long as everyone is accompanied by their partner. My girlfriends don't count though. Girl time!

Let's start with how therapy is taught today. I've got a female friend who recently completed her MSc in psychology and she's been telling me this for years. Essentially any traditionally social male behavior is deemed undesirable. Men in groups are violent, reinforce rivalry and patriarchy, encourage each other to suppress emotion, one-up each other, perpetuate mistreatment of women and mistreat weaker men. This is reflected in a broader cultural narrative that male grouping behaviors should be…

Isn't it the case that Kavanaugh is now permanently publicly labeled as a rapist without any evidence? I don't care what position he holds, he's probably lost the regard of many people he cared for. Doesn't sound like a fun life.

It's not about that. It's about the assumption that under no circumstances should the man be taking a rest in place of a woman, lest she does something even remotely hard.

I'd just like to point out that this is a "critical analysis" and not a data-based study. The author only spoke to ten men. It sounds reasonable, but I'd like some results with good statistics before I use it as an argument.

Women under-apply and men do the opposite. A man will apply if he meets roughly 60% of the criteria. Many women don't apply unless they meet all. Impostor syndrome is more common in women. The pressure for women to excel is real just as it is for men, they react differently to it though.

Many men can't carry the weight of responsibility they're expected to take on. There is no compassion for men who are overwhelmed. Oftentimes they lack the compassion for themselves. When women say that "men should share their feelings", they are expecting them to fulfill their fantasies about pent-up anger, desire to be free and productive, and sexual tension. They don't want to hear that you're tired, feel ashamed that you don't know how to care for your car or that you find having to be the h…

They usually mean specific things. If you drill down enough it just boils down to that men don't value the same things that some women do. The problem is that they view not sharing their values as immaturity or unreliability. Why? Because by a "partner" they mean someone who just performs the physical labor and bears the mental and fiscal cost of supporting their chosen way of life. They need a human doing, not a human being.

I get it, I like dick jokes. I like offensive humour. But this is a) Twitter and b) an official account for a major game developer. Perhaps I don't find the joke that offensive, perhaps it isn't. But imagine the outrage if they offered to tattoo a woman's breasts.

I don't agree with how he's saying that female leads are "invariably boring and less complex", like it's just because they're women. Video game characters are generally quite bad. The writing and development that is recognized as "amazing" would pass as total camp in film. Thus, the "complex" male characters rely on tropes and stereotypes very heavily. The writers can get away with not doing much about the character and the player will fill in the missing parts with what they're expecting. Games…

I've always argued that women criticize how men do the housework because they spend more time at home and thus prefer to have it their way. It's not that husbands won't do the housework, women just use this space more and know what works better for them.

I know it's anecdotal, but I have a friend who studied CS and quit. She is super intelligent, she could do it no problem. She never complained about other people. The only reason she quit was that she was getting bored to death. Same for her other female friends. Guys quit too, mind you. It really takes a particular set of interests to pursue programming.

I recall that the proposed law itself isn't gender biased, however the feminists frame it. No constitutional court in a civilized country would allow open sex asymmetry. I wonder when it will backfire at them, just like Title IX.
