I shouldn’t have been so general in my statements - sorry. Although you could probably argue that shooting a knife attacker through the head is deescalation. But I was trying to address situations specifically like the one the one in the video. Not ones where your life is in immediate and obvious danger. In those situations you should try kill or seriously injure your attacker. But when it’s just a high school girl being a bitch and she’s being held back by a teacher, there’s no need to hit her …

No. Then you become the attacker. Self-defense is where you seek to deescalate the situation by defending yourself. What part of defending do you not understand? I'm not even saying that you shouldn't fight back like you're describing. I'm simply saying that it stops being self-defense once you neutralize the threat and keep going

Yes I agree that it would be necessary if nobody had held her back, and it might be necessary in the parking lot later, but if he had backhanded her after she was held back and neutralized for the time being it would've just been petty. Plus, in this particular situation, it doesn't seem like he's in any real danger given that he was laughing after she hit him in the head and then body slammed her as soon as he decided to do anything
