Most of the people using the term do have issues with men as a group, or with societies treatment of women and men as groups. One of the frustrations that feminist have towards men who take issue with the term is that individual men feel targeted, like all the stuff that came pouring out of metoo about saying that every specific man has issues with consent. It makes no sense and no one really gets it so it creates more problems. I think it’s better to be more specific, so say that there is an issue, not with men being traditionally masculine, but with men feeling bad about themselves when they don’t fit into this perfect ideal of what it means to be a man, traditionally. Because I thought the opposite about this whole philosophy.
