"this biz/team/job seems like a really great fit for me and i think i can be really successful here if given the opportunity! the reason i am seeking a new job is because i am ready for the responsibility and want to be the best version of myself i can be. also, my parents are aging/retiring/semi-disabled and being able to help them as they get older is very important to me." nobody can poke holes in that without sounding like an asshole.

Fair enough, at least you tried. Totally get it, I too do not like to go out of my way to help someone that doesn't want my help.

That sucks. Is it possible/would you ever consider taking your little bro under your wing and helping him out a bit? It's hard to see someone you care about go through life struggling. I know most people kinda have the opinion you have to 'find this place yourself when you're ready', but he's your brother, help the dude out and send him down a better path.

I actually think the original Zoolander was brilliantly stupid. The problem in cinema today is the lack of creativity; like you said, too often movies rely on the fame of the star or are some poorly made remake/sequel, or both!

I do think it was at least in some part for the joke of it, but my guess is that Ben and Owen are good actors that the producers thought would get a higher box office turn out than hiring say, Gisele and Tyra.

Unfortunately, I think you're too generous with your estimate. The name of the subreddit itself probably makes this pretty high on the administration's ban list. I wouldn't be surprised if all it took was (one) bad post like wpd.

In my defense, in the off season, I drove to a fairly out of the way turn out, and only flew away from the canyon itself (the other reason I've heard beyond disturbing the wildlife is people crashing and trying to retrieve their drone but falling somewhere dangerous). I was up and down again in <15 min also. I really wish they made even more silent drones, I don't fly around others much because I always feel like I'm disturbing the peace. Maybe I'll upgrade to whatever the Platinum 2 will be whe…

Friends and I had two d-rings I use string a laundry line or a hammock from that run the length of the van. It might be covered in the interior photos (blackout cover) but I had a roof fan that does a decent job of drying my clothing. It also helps to have quick drying clothing and I stay on top of it. I usually will wash my gym clothes in the shower after each work out for example. Some of my nicer stuff does get dry cleaned. I have an unlimited cell data plan and just tether iPad and laptop to…

Just regular old financial investing. I do have some real estate in my portfolio, but it's not my focus (<20%). Everybody has strengths and weaknesses, acknowledge them. Maximize your strengths, do your best to manage your weaknesses, and outsource everything that isn't your competitive advantage. If it's too good to be true, it usually is. Don't fully trust anybody ever. Luck is found at the nexus of preparation and opportunity...I'm gonna stop preaching now because I really don't have any uniq…

Thanks, being able to listen and act on your inner voice is such a great feeling. Not having to think about how anyone else might be effected before making a decision was an adjustment, but a really, really nice one. I can't say I did it cheaply, but it's so entirely possibly. One of the things I learned on the trip was how much I thought I wanted prior and how little I actually needed. If I were to redo it I probably should have done a super stealth white pickup with camper but if I were to act…

Hell yeah my dude! And a regular suit! And a wet suit! I have a really wide variety of interests so making sure I was able to include everything and not be inconvenienced/have to rent all the time was important and kinda a fun, creative limitation for designing the interior. I honestly didn't keep track. I typical spend 75-100k a year on crap that can be filed under "being a bon vivant" (aka totally unnecessary but glorious and wholly enjoyable). Fancy dinners, top 100 golf courses, ski tickets,…

Brand new maxed out empty shell was sixty. Initial build out with high end upfitter was another sixty. I included a lot of custom things they hadn't done before, composting toilet, curved shelf above seats (so you don't hit your head), an actual kitchen sink, L-tracks for customisation and organization... Caeserstone, Koehler, Alpine, Rigid, BFG, and other expensive brand names I splurged on buying. Basically, I didn't have a strict budget when I was planning it (I was pretty liquid a few years …

Yeah, it was still in my budget, so when I was between two options, or wanted something extra, I went for it. Let's see, the base van itself was sixty. Totally maxed out, with exactly what options I needed. The initial build out with the company I used was another sixty. I shopped around for a while and ended up going with a high end builder that does more limos instead of the ones that do the rugged build outs. The build quality was considerably better. I wasn't going to ride a dirt bike into t…

Lol actually yes! Well, the guy who gave me a hard time was "an off duty park ranger"and just basically said don't get caught in a mean tone. I had already landed by the time he got to me (ironically, saw him approaching on the drone's camera feed), so I just basically just did the "thank you officer, have a nice evening" and left once the sun fully set to sleep on some forest service road right outside the park.

https://imgur.com/a/39lA7j6 As you can see, I went sorta crazy on it. It was a really fun project! I paid a van customizer to build it to my specifications. I had a whole 3D CAD model of where I wanted everything and knew most of the special materials and unique features I wanted from the beginning. I can come up with a fill list of everything I did to it, but the plan was to have a tiny house for potentially up to two years of living alone, on the road, mostly boondocking every night, hot and c…

I agree. I'll be honest, I'm biased, I just posted one lol. My feeling is that I kinda liked us all patting each other on the back about what we did with all our money (that we didn't give to women) instead of the typical hateful posts. GYOW for me is about me doing my shit and nothing else. Sometimes all the angry posts feel like we're kinda obsessing on the wrong thing, you know? We should be positive. Thanks! It felt like a dream. Totally possible for you too bro!! I admittedly went kinda overboard with my particular build, but the essence of my experience can be yours if you make it a priority! Oh yeah, the whole thing for her was, "a new and amazing experience, unlike anything she's ever done before and will remember for her whole life." Seriously travel, now! Not when you're fifty and doing some bucket list. I see all these old guys with wives and am reminded how happy I'm single. It's more fun to pick up locals obviously, but those girls from back home are really looking for a story. And yeah, like already mentioned above and elsewhere, if they're alone abroad, their current commitm…

Brief FR: just got done traveling to Switzerland with an American girl I first slept with in Italy. Three days in she tells me she has "a recent ex". The last day, essentially upon departure, she tells me she has a current bf. Unsurprisingly, I was not surprised. AWALT.
