I can see it coming across as fishing for compliment/needing validation.. which in turn can be desperate. But she just sounds rude lol

This is a pretty common one that guys use. So if she is interested it will tell her that you are as well. Just wanted to give a small warning this isn't as inconspicuous as it seems, BUT it is a good one. Hidden directness lol Maybe name an old gym you used before that offered similar classes?
