My situation was not much different than yours 12-14 years ago. Have a Bachelor of Science. Working on my CompTIA Network+ and Linux+ and have a software dev/analyst job at a Fortune 500 company making well above average money, at least compared to others here in the deep south (the money I make would be utter shit in a place like California or New York however). I suffered from premature receding in my early 20's and just do a buzz (no guard). If improving your looks is out of the question, do what you can to improve your socio-economic status.
