You can probably guess which one I agree with. I have no big problems with people calling ”lower-stage communism” socialism but don’t call a dictatorship of the proletariat or state capitalist society like the USSR socialist, because it’s in no way that.

Marxists disagree about that. Classical marxists/marxist-humanists/left-communists believe that Marx used socialism and communism interchangeably as a society free from all aspects of capitalism. He did say ”lower-stage communism/socialism” to refer to an earlier stage where the value form has not yet been abolished and people get paid in labor vouchers. Like the comment above said, the USSR was very authoritarian. It also called itself socialist while failing to abolish any key aspect of capitalism (money, wage labor, the state etc). I’d say Stalin is a much bigger problem than Lenin though. Lenin was ok. I like marxism because it’s the best tool for analyzing capitalism and everything about our society and also because it promotes total freedom.

Uh I know of many ”libertarians” who are even more hateful of poor people and weakness. Like the guys who want to able to kick addicts and homosexuals out of their utopian society because they’re weak according to them. Can’t remember their ideologue’s name now though. Lots of libertarians are social darwinists. It’s natural if you support a system where the only people who really benefit are old families where wealth has gone from generation to generation.

In one moment they say that homeless people are lazy, that the mentally ill need to get their shit together and that prisoners and criminals are the scum of society. Then they come here and say that men need help because they suffer more from homelessness, mental illness and addiction than women do. They’re living contradictions tbh

Not happened yet. The Paris commune was in the right direction, and May 1967 in France had the right ideas but they were defeated by the state. There are a few examples like that where the process has begun but communism hasn’t happened yet since that requires a global abolition of the law of value/money and wage labor.

Yeah liberalism stands for equality in an abstract way, it strives for equality. But it supports a system that rarely achieves equality. Marxism on the other hand strives for freedom, not equality. Marx never mentioned equality but he knew that the liberation of the working class from capitalism would achieve the most equal society possible. Agree 100 % with this. I don’t want to really call myself a leftist since I don’t want to be called the same thing as liberals and socdems are called. Since they are in the end capitalists. They want to preserve a system that fundamentally destroys both humanity and nature. A ”mixed” system is still capitalist since money and the value form still dominates, and the value form is the root of everything.

I think all my marxist friends agree with this. Which is also why we don’t want to punish individual capitalists for what the system made them do, and also why we are against criminal punishment. At least how it’s done in bourgeois society.

You should read Gilles Dauvé’s ”A World Without a Moral Order” and ”Crime as Representation and Reality”. Great marxist articles that talk about things like this, that there are no ”monsters” in society, just humiliated human beings created by capitalist society.

Communism has never been tried, since it’s the international abolishing of capitalism and all its aspects; money, wage labor, the state etc. What you call socialism, probably social democracy like the USSR, has worked pretty well in some places. This is a well-written and thought-provoking essay by marxist Dominique Blanc, who was part of the french left-communist (anti-stalinist) tendency (the people who incited the 1968 riots). It has some great insights about rape and the hysteria around it, and how women act in sexual and romantic relations with men. It also connects feminism to the capitalist hegemony. Should be extremely controversial today but you guys may appreciate it.

I think a reason for this is that women often spend a lot more time thinking about the relationship, how their man behaves and how the house looks etc, while men are often busy thinking about their hobbies (which tend to be a lot more intense and plentiful with men than with women in my experince) and therefore women get into these thought loops and invent problems that don’t exist.
