I loved every minute of it, bud. The progressive escalation was almost too good it could have been made up. Poetry.

Dudes, I just got to say, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this exchange. Very entertaining, the both of yous. Keep fighting the good fight. (hint: the good fight is not each other).

I agree and I'm pretty surprised at some of the comments on here as well. Maybe people are thinking about it the wrong way. To me it's really, really simple: Money = freedom.

I was lucky enough to get into a sales training program with a Fortune 100 tech company directly out of college. A lot of big tech and pharma companies have these programs and they're pretty competitive. This is the easy button if you can get in. The most common place to start is in inside sales for large companies. CDW and Dell are known to hire young and hungry kids to pound the phones. You do good in inside sales, they'll move you to outside sales. Look up "inside sales", "business developmen…

Yep. What he said. There is a big difference between corporate sales (b2b) and consumer sales. Consumer sales generally much lower margin, higher volume. This is Apple corp selling an iPad to Joe Blow. Sales people in this line of work generally don't make a ton. Exceptions being sales of highend consumer products i.e. Bentleys, houses, etc B2B sales would be Microsoft selling their software to Boeing.

Then get experience, build your client list and get a car. These jobs aren't just given out at random.

I'm talking b2b sales- think large tech manufactures like Intel, Cisco, Oracle, Microsoft, EMC selling to large corporations.

Get a job in sales. Source: 10 years in high tech sales What I love about sales is you know your value/worth to the company. This isn't a fuzzy number that is debatable like a Marketing Managers value. This is, I brought it $10M in sales last year and I am unapologetic cashing in a $300k paycheck. There is a certain freedom in that that is unique to sales. I work from home, I set my own schedule, I speak to my manager for 30 mins every 2 weeks. My manager can't get a hold of me for 5 hours? Who …

dude, these guys are hot in the market, no joke. Do some more research on them and suck it up. They are a 700 person public company, pulling down $160M a year and growing 50% each year. There's people at the company that understand business and like to build things. Find them and learn and stop making important decisions based on some silly HR video. Although these guys seem better, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=up3-61EdrdA

Do me a favor and reread this post in 10 years to see how much of a tool you sound like. I know you can't see it now but just trust me.

So you wrote her off, which is fine. If I was bored and wanted some ass I'd take a different approach. Turn it sexual and playful. You got nothing to lose at this point. Experiment with it. You take it too far, so what, she stops talking to you. Example, "You should come over here, pretend like we know each other." "Yeah, but I'd feel bad about grabbing your ass in front of your kids." Her next response will tell you if she's down. You can even get her to commit before you go over. "Listen, I'm …

Mixed reactions on here. So another data point from someone that is prescribed adderall. I got accepted into a highly competitive tech sales program after college. The program was an intense year long program with a 25% attrition rate. If you made it through the program you'd be set up with a $120k salary to start. I've always had a lack of focus and a shitty memory but I skated through an engineering degree in college because things came natural to me. Well I hit a wall in this program.. we had…

You were not looking in the right places then. You were probably hitting up tourist hot spots with other tourists, suburbanites and New Jersey folk.

Easy dude. Get a good job and go to a big fun city like Chicago, NYC, Austin, SF. Please, don't live in the suburbs. I'll say this again so you don't miss this part, please don't live in the suburbs. Live in the city. For age 22-25 you are given a free pass. It's like college II. All you have to be is fun and attractive and you will find girls the same age to sleep with. BUT, the hottest 22-25 year olds will be looking at older guys now. At 25 you gotta have your shit together, financially. You …

The going rate for this arrangement is $15k - 20k in my city. And it's a 3 year commitment. My polish cleaning lady asked me if I had any friends that would do this for one of her friends. I actually did know someone. They met up, the polish chick was a total smoke show and my buddy got super excited. My friend thought he would be boning her nightly. But after finding out that she had a long term boyfriend (also polish illegal) I convinced him if was a bad idea.

Anyone that lives in the city of Chicago can get that deal. PM me if you are interested. My man, you are missing the point. The Point: I don't want some young buck to come here and see your post and think ,, hmm the path to enlightenment is only though hard lifting, nothing else matters. I would encourage them to try anything physical that they might be good in. Boxing is a great sport to build disciple, humility, motivation, confidence, muscle, endurance and in the most purest form of competiti…

Weak. Jesus Christ man. I wrestled in high school and boxed competitively in college. I now do amateur boxing to stay in shape. Expensive? No, I belong to a city gym, costs me $45 for 3 months. You don't even have to buy gloves. They have plenty. Dangerous? Not quite, boxing is 90% training. There are people in my gym that will never spare or fight anyone, they just train to stay in shape. Me, I love to fight. It forces you to live, to survive. Done right, its perfectly safe. Amateur boxing is a…

Chicago can be pretty racist. Maybe try the Booth and Kellogg circuit but I'd say in San Fran you'd see more success.

Disagree completely for Chicago. Transplant from the East living in Chicago for 8 years and it seems like there are more than enough hot girls to go around. If you are white, successful, chill, live downtown and not hideous, the city is yours. A hot girl that lives in the city after 25 is usually career driven so as long as your career is in order you can have plenty of success. I'm fortunate enough to have a legit group of guy friends that are doing well so that has it's perks and our circles k…

Amen brother. Money = Freedom. Fuck power, that is ego driven. I'll take freedom over power any day. Why does the large majority of people continue to spend the vast majority of their waking life working 5 days straight for 2 days off. Because it's the default setting. It's want our parents did and it's what we were trained to do. And the economy relies on our consumer obsessed default setting - we buy shit we don't need with money we don't have to impress people we don't like. 5 years ago I vow…

You haven't been around many high earners then. Traders, sales, ibankers, even some consultants.. these types get what they want and who they want. Typically guys that thrive in highly competitive environments. I see a lot of ex-college athletes do well. Cocaine is usually a problem unless they exercise some self control.

I have a rule that I don't knowingly fuck a chick in a relationship. My consciousness is clear and if asked, I tell the truth without hesitation. No details. I treat the man with respect and prepare for a fight.

It surprises me how true this is. I got busted in college for some drug stuff and went to jail for 5 months. That was 10 years ago .. and no one would guess since I've been very successful in my career. I mention my history to girls I get more serious with .. and first it's a little bit of shock, then almost always they become more attracted to me.

Technology, computers and automation will be taking over jobs. The workforce is shrinking .. Anything that can be automated, will be.. Anything that can be scripted will be sent over seas. Look at the decline of loan officers, HR block tax accountants, and call center agents. Jobs that involve people.. medicine, healthcare, nursing, consulting will increase. Military funding will be dramatically decreased with the next 2 presidents .. stay out of DC. Boom city now.. I predict it's decline within…

I get the point you are trying to make, but it's a pretty weak analogy. I'm in a big city and my best dates are the one's where I take the girl to a small restaurant where I've been many times and it's an off night. There will be a handful of other people there, the food is legit, the ambiance is relaxed and chill. The girl doesn't give a flying fuck that the place is not packed. A lot of times we will close the place down and be the last to leave. The girl you are describing in your post is lik…

Good stuff. I appreciate posts like this from successful people that have 'been there." Allow me to share my rules for success with the young grasshoppers. You will notice a lot of overlap. Be excellent at what you do. This is #1 and will make everything easier. Goals. Make goals and work backwards, then share them with a boss or mentors you trust. Ask for their input. In my experience, this is what separates the top 1% from the rest. Always be thinking and making progress towards a predefined g…

Dude, you could have pulled off the coveted 'double or nothing'. Hard to pull, but definitely in your wheel house. Get loose. don't act surprised that they found out. reiterate that you thought they both were attractive and cool, what did they expect? How about we all go out for drinks? no dinner. fuck dinner man, that shit is for boyfriends and girlfriends because they can't think of anything else to do. Think of something money, a little random, and fun. dive bar Keroke, drinking picnic in the…

Actually, philosophy majors do the best of the BA majors. Also, there is a disportional amount of CEOs that got their degree in philosophy.

Did I miss something? How are you leaving the friend zone with no physical contact? Totally thought you were going to end with a kiss. It didn't seem like she showed any signs of sexual reciprocation. Sounds like you are getting better dealing with her but you are still deep in the friend zone in my opinion.

Its not exclusive to my current company; I've worked for two Fortune 500 tech manufacturers over the last 8 years and it was the same policy. Face to face meetings are highly valued, but a lot of time Webex meetings are just as effective. I push for lunch meetings with customers because its a little less pressure, customers let their guard down, and everyone has to eat. It also allows me to expense the meal and check out new places in the city. I live in Chicago, so it's a quick taxi ride for me…

Depends on your personality. I fuck around a lot so my go to is, "I have a bit of a serious question for you .. would you rather have sex with a dolphin or pineapple?" Make them answer. Fun fact - 9 out of 10 girls say dolphin.

You ordered 2 bottles of wine, ordered for her and then split the check? I don't know the background but that seems inconsistent. If the date/dinner is the girl's idea or she really wanted to take me to this restaurant, I would split the check if she insisted. Other than that, I wouldn't let her pay.

Yo buddy, I'm just giving you some of my perspective and opinion .. I'm not trying to write any party rulebook. If its a dinner party, show up on time. If its a short window graduation party, like from 1PM - 3, show up on time. Kid's birthday party, show up on time. I throw a handful of casual parties every summer in Chicago, usually on Saturdays. They start at 6 and go till 2 am or later. I don't know if it's my group of friends or the fact that it's in a city compared to the burbs but I've hav…

As someone that throws a lot of parties and cookouts, I disagree with you on showing up on time. Most of the time, when I'll have a party that starts at 6 PM and goes all night, most people will show up between 7:30 - 9:00. The people that show up exactly on time are my closet friends that are helping me with different aspects of the party. If a guy shows up alone right at 6 looking to socialize, that would be annoying. I live in the a big city so most people are coming from another party, festi…

Hey great tips! I have a question for you. I have a fairly athletic build with wide shoulders and a barrel chest. You know the 6 inch drop or even 7 inch drop for European suits? .. well they don't work for me. I have a 33/34 in waist and a 44/45 inch chest. I usually have to go with a large or extra large shirt to accommodate my shoulders and chest so it's never form fitting down by my waist. So what advice can you give me when searching for shirts or suits? Should I go straight for the bespoke…
