Well not to dissuade you from nun mode, but I don't think you, as the woman, need necessarily to wait until 27 to start dating again if you want kids in the future. If you don't want kids, wait as long as you want! But if you want kids, don't take your fertility for granted. The window is smaller than we're taught to think it is. Once you're done with nun mode, I say go ahead and start hunting for those high quality, commitment-ready 28+ year olds. ;)

Yeah, I sent this article to a blue pill, unhappily single friend of mine, and she responded that she felt it was condescending to women. I have no idea what about this article could be seen as talking down to women. It literally just recommends signs to look out for, and age-ranges to look at. Sigh.

Super interesting article. Thanks for sharing! These sound like good rules of thumb to follow, but as always, evaluate individual guys based on their own merit/personality/values, etc. I agree that dating an older man is more likely to lead to commitment, but occasionally you'll find a young one who's super mature! My husband and I are both college graduates, but he proposed to me then married me (only four months after proposing) when he was 24 years old, which is outside their high-commitment …

Thank you u/jtriangle, u/whitebunny87, u/hostwithmost for all saying much more succinctly and clearly what's been bothering me about the responses to the Aziz situation! We have a lot to learn from each other and I so appreciate this open dialogue allowing us to do that.

Lol okay okay! I won't try to offer any more analogies. :) My point is that his body of work was all about how men are the worst and how he himself is "woke" and therefore better at respecting women, but then acted a way that some women think was inconsiderate at best and disrespectful at worst. I've yet to see any consequences for Aziz career-wise, though maybe you're more up to date than I am. To my knowledge, his shows/specials have not been cancelled, and I didn't hear of a publisher refusin…

Do you really think nonverbal cues don't count for anything? Nonverbal cues are part of our communication arsenal as humans. You and I both read nonverbal cues in addition to spoken word when interacting with fellow humans. Everyday. In every situation. If it turns out Aziz has some kind of condition that makes it harder for him to read people, then I apologize for judging him harshly. Otherwise, a 34 year old man should be able to connect the dots between a young woman saying things like "Next …

Unpopular opinion incoming! Sure, he's not a rapist. But he's a giant, flaming hypocrite and he deserves to have his career at least dented because his entire image hinged on him being a feminist and "good guy." Someone who wrote a book about dating and body language in the modern world (AKA him) would have easily been able to see how not into it the girl was. She dropped so many verbal and non-verbal cues. Could she have been clearer? Sure. But the fact is that he kept pushing to get his rocks …

I'm so happy to hear things have gotten better!! You're doing awesome. Please be gentle with yourself and keep practicing self-love and self-care. Even if you don't feel like doing your self-care one day, try to focus on how good you'll feel after you get done!

It's a harsh truth, but I 100% agree. Sweet u/nancywheelie, if you were my daughter, I'd ask you to seriously consider moving on. My husband and I openly talked about marriage and children within months of starting to date. Don't let the sunk cost fallacy trick you into settling for a low quality man. If he doesn't love you enough RIGHT NOW, after 4 years of being together, to even talk about marriage, I don't think he ever will. I'm sorry.

Gotta agree with this lady. I met my now-husband when he was a sophomore in university. Within months, we had conversations about marriage and how we planned to get married, and got married around 3 years of being together. I know I'm very lucky and can't expect most men to be like that. But I also think that an outright negative response to mentioning you wanting to marry this guy specifically is, like u/LateralThinker13 said, a huge red flag. His youth should not be an excuse. He's either seri…

Yes! It's also not accusatory. It's much less likely to make him feel defensive.

In my personal opinion, a high quality man has the same n count as you, if not less. My husband and I were both virgins when we met, and didn't have sex until after we got married. Neither of us regret waiting for the right person. Of course, the definition of "high quality man" differs from person to person, but I think I lucked out. My husband is Christian, earns more than double of what I earn, works SUPER hard, works out 5 days a week, leads our little household, and still has time to make m…

aw. what a bummer! I wanted to believe that people could behave reasonably while being famous, but I guess I should have known, lol. I'm so glad my husband and me waited, and I just wish other people could experience it!

Please be kind to yourself!! I can't stress this enough!! I'm Asian as well, stocky, not anywhere close to a 10, but I found my now-husband my senior year of college. Asian features are NOT a death sentence. My husband has told me that what attracted him to me was my looks in combination with my outgoingness, warmth, femininity and friendliness. When he met me, I was at the peak of appreciating my assets. I accepted my crazy, frizzy hair and did my best to tame it, I was proud of my thick legs f…

Don't be ashamed! Everyone has a past, and no one is beyond redemption. I don't think it would hurt to think about why you had sex in the past, and reflect on how you've changed so you can explain to a future partner. You can be honest about your desire for him, but explain why you've changed. Forgive yourself, and do the right thing from here on out. The right man will be able to forgive you for your past, and love you for who you are.

I think this is a valid viewpoint, but I also want to point out that it's possible to wait until marriage! My husband and I waited, and now, he's very satisfied with our sex life. :) As am I, of course! There was a learning curve, but I love exploring with him and knowing that we have the rest of our lives to do it. Also I think Ciara and Russell Wilson waited? If that counts, lol.

I feel you. I'm not a mom yet, so it's not as intense as your situation, but I catch so much grief from my coworkers for how much I do for my husband. Why is taking care of our families considered to be a bad thing?? Whats wrong with living selflessly for the ones you love?? Edit: Also, welcome!

Exactly!! My mom always says "Slow is real." My experience is super limited, but with my first boyfriend, it was this crazy fast whirlwind of hormones and emotions and attraction. It ended terribly. My husband was my second boyfriend, and by comparison, it was slow and almost unexciting. Now I'm head over heels for my husband, and can't imagine being with anyone else. As a millennial, I had been groomed to seek instant gratification. I now see that building something as precious as a deep connec…

Thank you. I read an article recently saying something like 60% of women regret their one night stands. You don't see those same numbers when looking at men and their satisfaction with their ONS.

I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way, but IMO loving someone is a choice, not a feeling. You're making the choice not to fully invest in this guy, learn about him, support him, etc., consciously or not. Which is fine! You don't have to! But, eventually, even with the love of your life, there will be dull and boring periods of time, and you will have to choose to love that person despite feeling "meh" about them. My husband (bless his heart) is vastly less outgoing/animated/energetic/emo…

Have you tried encouragement/positive reinforcement when he does lead? That way, you can help build his confidence, and while giving yourself a better appreciation of the areas in life in which he is a good leader. Basically, instead of noticing all of the times he doesn't lead, keeping an eye out for when he does lead, and then appreciating him for it and helping him grow and develop at his own pace.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
