Also they get to work on those sweet trucks that crush everything into tiny tiny cubes after picking rubbish bins on robotic hands. Garbage trucks are awesome.

You wouldn't notice a thing most of the time. I've been there 3 times, one of which was a week after a coup. You wouldn't know, most of the times the coups are bloodless and the normal Thai's are so used to them that it's BAU. Not to mention that you'll have a lot more fun in the south or the north of the country when most of these coups are focused in Bangkok.

The other one (which I'm currently discovering) is that they end up not liking you because your job "is just sitting around" or "you do nothing" Also I find it a little weird when talking to my mother as I already make considerably more than her and I feel like its a bit of an insult when someone makes less than someone 30 years their junior.

I'm not disagreeing with the continuing dating bit. More just the focus being f-closing and f-closing only. However, yes the continue dating thing is bizzare, stupid and crazy.

I quite like this response which should counter your point. Perhaps for some girls being at an Ivy League School or running a marathon fast is the social value, but for others it might be owning a motorcycle.. or being really good at World of Warcraft. It's all about your target market. Sell to that.
