The sad thing is, after actually reading the article, there's some actually good advice that just goes to absolute shit by constantly comparing the partner to a dog. "say what you mean" "give them space to hang out with mates", etc. They couldn't just say that though, they had to accompany it with this degrading metaphor which has caused all this backlash in this thread.

Despite his intentions, he did hit the nail on the head. It IS embarrassing these days being beaten up by a girl, and that's why so few people report it. Even if you're 5'6 and she's a 6 foot girl who could easily topple you, you'd get "Ha! A GIRL beat you up? Pussy".

I'm not sure if the title had a hint of sarcasm, but I wouldn't say this is misandry at all. The dad left, which the writer strenuously pins to him obviously being a "dead beat" because of it (possible but not exactly enough proof), but I don't see the misandry in a story like that.

You could be linking to anything. Transparency is a better policy. If it's a really long link you can embed it in a word just saying "link 1" which still let's us see where it goes.

The "reason" I was banned was because I posted a "top level" comment in an ask feminists thread. I'm not sure if that was just a shitty excuse or if they're genuinely blind, because I clearly replied to someone else that had already posted. I sent both the mods very tactful messages hoping to resolve the "accident" they made but haven't heard back from either of them.

While I'm all for peaceful protest/disagreement, I think you'd have a far better effect if you simply attended the conference, listened to what they say, and if you find it hateful, TELL them that, tell them why you disagree, and spark more discussion. I guarantee that most people there welcome opposing viewpoints if they're put out rationally.

Hi, not sure why you were downvoted, you seem fairly innocent in your question. The answer is that we don't know exactly who. this article talks about a letter they received from the hotel (sadly it looks like it's been redacted) detailing the anonymous phone calls and threats of violence to staff and attendees, damage to property, etc.

As good as the points you put forward are, I'd still at least encourage people to report it to the faculty at least once. My school handled it very well and quickly stamped out any hopes the bullies had of lying their way out of it. Granted, a lot of mine took place online so I had plenty of evidence. If the school doesn't fix it, well, that sucks. But if they do by some miracle handle it well, it's great!

I like that the documentary still looks promising, but personally the choice of name makes me a little fearful for how it may be received. I get that it's just a name but it may easily be used as another resource to lump MRA's in with pick up artists and other perhaps more people we don't want to be associated with.

I used to be shocked by these but I've learned this is the RadFem way. I wouldn't use this in an argument against feminists because it's the equivalent of them showing a militant MRA who believes women should be sex slaves and nothing more. I just laugh/cry at the stupidity now.

In comments: I don't know where the assumed facts in this discussion came from but they don't appear valid. The Federal government pays according to GS numbered pay grades and everyone (male or female) in a particular pay grade is paid on exactly the same scale So what you're saying is, they didn't take into account that men and women might work different hours or positions and thus earn more in the long run? Hmmm preposterous idea.

That is a good point, but at the same time one could argue that muscles in general are a secondary sexual characteristic on men, and by extension the chest. Muscular men are immediately more sexually attractive (MOST of the time), than an equivalent, less muscular version of that person.

DISCLAIMER: I interpreted this point to talk more about going topless, specifically, rather than fully nude. While men going nude may be "more" publicly acceptable or "funny" compared to women, it's still a taboo and socially unacceptable thing. Men going topless isn't. I don't think that's the point they were making with that one.
