today i learned. human sexuality is such a strange and complex thing sometimes. that being said.. she still preyed on a minor and i find it very sad indeed that she was only interested in forming a sexual relationship with her child, and not one of a caretaker/ role model/ mother. i feel so bad for this kid. judging from the comments on this article he's got a tough time ahead of him.

no contact for 15 years, and then when she does, she's sexually soliciting him on facebook? what a disgusting, horrible person. not only that, but isn't 18 the age of consent in CA? why wasn't she charged with statutory rape? then again, that's only a 4 year prison sentence MAX, so idk if it would have made much of a difference..

i think it has less to do with the fact that she was a woman and more to do with the fact that it took place in CA. from what i've found, the laws on this sort of thing don't seem to be very harsh..

the "penalty" is that a couple filing jointly, who's earnings fall within the same tax bracket, will end up paying more taxes than if they both filed as "single." the bigger the difference in each of the person's earnings, the less likely there will be a "penalty," and in most cases will actually end up paying less taxes than before they were married.

i've noticed this too :/ i fully understand the whole "safe place" idea, my issue is the fact that many people here try to act like there is nothing but rational discussion going on here, and constantly berate the feminist subreddits for doing the same things. like i get it. much of what you are saying is coming out of anger at the way that you have been treated by women. just admit that. most people are assholes and they suck, imo. gender has nothing to do with it.

i think it has everything to do about their own self worth. i consider myself lucky in that when i was growing up, much more emphasis was placed on my academic achievements than on my outward physical appearance. maybe it was because i was pretty homely until i hit highschool, or maybe my parents actually got something right, but i was always praised for how well i did in school and how hard i worked. this was definitely not true for many of my peers growing up. many of them were not exactly.. a…

of course, i can see this being true for radical feminists. not all feminists are like this, though. many women are for equal rights yet choose to focus on women's issues, and instead of identifying as "womens rights activists" they just call themselves feminists. i remember a lady posting something to that effect in here not too long ago

if someone views themselves above a good faith discussion with someone of opposing viewpoints, then that person is ignorant and no amount of dissent is going to get them to think otherwise. it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with feminism, it's just the way some people are. it's like an atheist trying to have a discussion with a fundie. it's futile and you're wasting your time and breath.
