I have to reply to this just because I’ve never seen a comment so opposite of my views!! As an only child, I was miserable and alone all the time. My small family struggled financially regardless. In my opinion, children are a blessing, and I have always wanted a huge, fun family. Before birth control, children were an inevitability. Only recently has it been seen as “irresponsible” to have more than one or two children. I just think that is so odd. People have always preserved financially with …

I’ve considered telling him to join NoFap, but I don’t want to come across as condescending. He’s not very social about his problems. He’s a pretty stoic guy.

My phrasing was probably suboptimal there. I intended to convey that he would be willing to try if I spoke to him about it. Thank you for your input.

Thank you for your response! I’m very confident that he will stop if I make it clear that this is hurting me. I’ve just been unsure about whether to discuss it. Now I think I will.

You can doubt all you want, but I actually spoke to her about it just this afternoon.

A good friend of mine went into a women’s college very liberal and feminist, and DROPPED OUT due to the amount of man hating and extremism. They apparently berated her for being in a relationship with a man and disparaged his character. She then transferred to my current school... Definitely try to absorb the culture during your college visit. Schools like this exist, but I’m hopeful that this experience is in the minority.

I was thinking possibly discord as well! I’m not super familiar with it, but I understand that it’s pretty widely used. Hopefully we get some interest and can look into starting something!

Absolutely!! It’s a scary world we live in, and you never know who you can trust. Until we can make a society where shady people don’t exist, I’m going to keep protecting myself and encouraging my girlfriends to do the same.

Personally, I think there has to be a level of common sense and personal responsibility. I’d never go to a frat house and get intoxicated or drink heavily with men I’m unfamiliar with, for the same reasons why I wouldn’t leave my car/house unlocked. Other people just can’t be trusted, unfortunately. Naturally, sexual assault is NEVER the victim’s fault, and it’s awful that we even have to have these conversations. But, there are a lot of common sense steps women can take to avoid harmful situati…

That’s awesome!! You’ll have to message me with your tumblr name, if you’re comfortable with it. I’ve always wondered how many gals in the Trad Tumblr community are on RPW. (And, yeah, I’m a guilty username repeater 😂)

I run a pretty popular traditional blog. Traditionalism is alive and well on Tumblr, believe it or not. Anyone who wants to get started with a list of blogs to follow can let me know!

You can practice being mindful of what you say by picturing the words you speak in your mind before/while you say them, as if they were printed. This really helped me!! Sometimes I have a quick temper, and I find that this practice has a calming effect, as well.

I love this post for being pro self-improvement, but it is a little preachy and condescending toward people who aren't "smart" while being full of grammatical errors.

Right now, we are laying in bed doing absolutely nothing together. He's reading, and I'm looking at lovely reddit posts. It's one of the first times I'm our relationship that we haven't felt the need to obsess over each other until we're exhausted enough to sleep. We're just happily doing our own thing until we end up dozing off. His presence next to me is so comforting, and I never imagined that being alone is so much better with someone you love by your side.

I recently read a similar article written by a bitter woman crying over pregnancy celebrations when "my collleeeggggeee deegreee is more important than children". Okay, lady.

No, I perfectly understand that, and it makes sense. I'm just also having a difficult time finding anything I want to do. So, I don't know. That's another conversation entirely, but I'm at a point where I need to decide what I'm doing for the rest of my life. It's just that everything is extremely unappealing to me. His family also disapproves of my current major, too.

Well, it was a comment that was meant like a joke, and I think they took it way out of context. Of course, I don't follow him around all the time, but I'm very uncomfortable with new people and new situations, and there was lots of that. So that was the situation. Additionally, I am in college, if that makes you feel better. I just don't like it at all, and it feels like a waste of money and time. I can absolutely take care if myself, I'm just hoping for a situation where I don't have to.

Good idea!!! I'm just doing my best to get their approval at this point. It's a little exhausting!

I meant it in a kind of funny "I'm a lost puppy/there's so much going on" sort of way, but I understand what you mean. I should have thought more before I spoke, but I do want to be able to be myself around them. I am going to have to have a conversation with him. The problem is that, while he's dominant with me, his family is really female-dominated and very different from me for many other reasons. I see him defer to them all the time, and I'm not sure how to have that discussion tactfully and…

Thank you!! I really should try to stand up for myself more. I'm just still kind of in the "oh no my SO's family must like me" stage. I wish my man would step up and do something like that!!! Unfortunately, his family is extremely female dominated, and he still follows those principles around them... I don't want to force him to do anything he doesn't want to do.

RPW here. I'm 19 and my long term man is 24. Younger women love when you teach them things, so she'll eat up option one. It also makes you seem like a strong, capable, older guy. If she's worthy of being in a ltr with you, you can take her on option 2, but wait for now.

I would be angry that he has invited this friend to live with him and not you. I can be kind of a jealous person, though.

This is basically the exact situation with my ex. I ended up figuring out his passwords, and I saw lots of things I didn't want to see. There's a reason he's my ex. Once the trust had been broken, there's no getting it back. Current boyfriend/SO/Captain/whatever has always been straightforward with me about his phone password (honestly just so I can text for hmm while he drives), but it makes me feel so secure because I know I have no reason to snoop.

"Secret" groups can't be seen whatsoever by people who haven't been invited to view it. Unfortunately, this presents the problem that every member would have to be selected and invited by the admin, but it's definitely something worth joining.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
