Who knows what I have. Depression, rapid cycling bipolar, mood disorders. Or maybe I'm just a fucking wuss.

I know. I've gotten mixed reviews from most about therapy, and terrible reviews for meds.

I'd really rather not. I just need to learn to be better with people. Eventually I'll get the motivation to want to do it. I guess it's just as people have said: I don't want it badly enough.

It's not the only thing I have to say. That was an exaggeration. I make small talk, it's just not very interesting even to me, but it's less scary than voicing my true opinions and getting shot down.

Would anyone be willing to mentor me?

I don't see why they'd choose me over someone else though. I have nothing to say. I'm kindof just a wall.

I never have anything to say. Others have suggested this, but I don't have much to say unless it's self criticism.

It's not like I don't talk to people at all. I'm polite with people and chat when required. I just can't make the step between talking to a girl that way, and talking to her with just social implications. If that makes sense.

That first step is always the tough one. I've considered seeing a therapist for awhile, but I don't feel there's much they could do. I'm capable of talking to people so long as I need something from them.

That's kinda terrifying.

I suppose it's possible, but we were friends for years and I talked to her almost every day (she liked to talk though...).

I've known a couple who were attracted to me, but I wasn't interested. I've been hit on a couple of times before, but I didn't know what to do... those I regret and they likely felt silly or embarrassed.

She likely didn't notice or care?...Not to be a negative nancy

Yeah, I need to get to that point, but I'm afraid it could be 10 years before I do.

I tend to take rejection personally. Guess I should get over that.

I'm quite shy around all new people male or female and it normally doesn't matter which gender I talk to I still get pretty nervous. Alcohol I'm told makes me talk quite a bit...

Eh he is a sociopath, but not everything he said was useless since it wasn't really about women.

Even small rejections bother me a lot. I'll think about them for weeks. I remember most of the ones I've had. I don't remember the good things very often.

If that was how I judged how badly I wanted something then I would clearly want absolutely nothing. I do agree they're all excuses though. Excuses and complaining to avoid doing anything.

I went through a fairly dark period a year ago, and never quite recovered. Not that I ever tried with women but this kinda killed every bit of confidence I had.

I'm not sure, there's no reason to be logically. My emotions just don't seem to agree. Guess I have to try someday though or I'll lose my right to bitch.

That pretty much sums up how I feel. Sadly

I read "the blueprint" which was basically a book about inner game, and it made sense. I just didn't seem capable of those kinds of beliefs

That's basically saying "no risk no reward". I've never been one to take risks in anything and the few times I have I lost. I also don't really have the willpower to carry any of these things out. I'm certain I will fail and that will destroy me.

I wouldn't exactly say I'm living life comfortably. Constantly trying to hide the fact that you've never been with a girl at all. It's difficult as hell to hide and makes me very uncomfortable talking about girls, much less talking to them.

There's so much stuff people want me to read. Most people don't have to read all this stuff to get girlfriends. Why do I have to read all this stuff. Why is this so difficult?

People have told me for years that I need to "come out of my shell" or "do something out of my comfort zone". Truth is I can frequently barely make myself do things that are in my comfort zone.

Socially awkward penguin and I are good buddies. I'm not sure rejection can every be "trivialized" for me due to my personality. I do see how this exercise might help though. Getting me to do something about it is another matter though.

Fear of rejection is a very real thing. Girls do want to be kissed, just not by me. That's really one of my biggest problems with this. I read positive posts from people about great results they've had and I just don't believe it could apply to me.

Wouldn't getting rejected every day just make you feel worse.

I do kinda think I'm awesome. I just hate rejection so much that I don't share anything personal with anyone.

Negative Nancy is a good description, but I'm rarely wrong. I'm aware this is a pick up reddit but I don't really want to read a book on this stuff.

That's a really honest reply. To be honest I haven't had that many negative outcomes. The only 2 girls I have ever approached both let me down pretty easy (though one I was massively in love with and wouldn't let go of). I'm just at a loss for how to proceed, and despite all the advice don't know how I could ever do what people are suggesting.

This sounds like a great idea in theory, but I fail to see how I could ever do this without getting shot down in the most painful ways possible.

I understand what you're saying but I'm just not sure I can do it. I read all these posts about just trying it and yet I can't seem to convince myself that it would ever work for me. How could it? I'm so terrified of them. The only experiences I have with them are negative and sent me into a deep depression.

I do go to the gym, but it hasn't changed anything. I just can't seem to build the confidence to do it. I'm terrified of rejection. The horror...the horror... Congrats though dude.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
