Seriously. It's like bragging that you have a nose or feet. Like yeah, so do most people. I can see some particularly insecure women finding some validation in it, but even the most self-absorbed woman on the planet knows it's not unique to her.

Alright. As a survivor of sexual assault (no, I did not orgasm, in case you were wondering) and friend of many survivors of sexual assault, I'm trying not to puke as I type so I'll just leave an anecdote. A male friend of mine was raped by a woman. The last thing he remembers before passing out is going to bed alone but hearing someone sneak in. He woke up again to a woman having sex with him just as he finished inside her. Obviously he was upset over the fact that it happened, the fact that he …

Not married, but hopefully will be within the year. Part of the decision to get married *in general* is for religious reasons- we're both devout Catholics who want to raise a family, and that's the prerequisite for us. The other part is practicality- a desire for stability, lifelong companionship, combined finances, a defined partnership, etc. The decision to get married *to each other...* well, I'd hope we have similar motivations. For my part, I couldn't really imagine being with anyone else b…

At the end of the day it’s not enough of an inconvenience to justify spending money for me, but my whole point in the first place is that a) house work is more monotonous and time-eating than some of the guys here realize and b) OP can utilize strategies like the cleaners to get closer to what she wants. So I agree. Also yeah fuck polo shirt uniforms, especially the under armor ones with reflective lettering. All they do is peel off and get untucked. Bring back jumpsuits!!
/r/PurplePillDebate01/05/18 04:34 PM

Exactly. I guess I’m just supposed to live a dystopian existence bereft of pleasure and consume only prepackaged soylent in the name of liberation from housework. I mean, I could do that, but i would catch just as much flak from these guys for imposing that sort of austerity on my family if I tried.

ironing Yes, because if I show up to work with a wrinkled uniform I'll get my ass kicked. I take pride in looking like a damn professional. Folding laundry See above. Cuts back on wrinkles, makes it so that more things can fit in my drawers and closet, makes it easier to find things, and makes my room look less like a chaotic disaster zone. Press start Cast iron doesn't go in a dishwasher, and no, I'm not going to force my family to survive off of automated "press start" meals. Unfortunately pre…

When my dog barfed up partially digested salmon and pesto all over my cream carpet today I could have really used a man like squidracer to come make it easier with his man-knowledge.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/05/18 12:53 AM

Care to share any pointers, then? I'd have loved to play Xbox today while doing the dishes, cooking, cleaning up my cooking, wet-vaccuming where my dog barfed, scrubbing boogers and toothpaste stains out of the bathroom tile, ironing, dealing with a spilled candle, and folding laundry today while everyone else in the house sat on the couch. Share your knowledge, I'd love to have the time to finish Portal sometime this year.

Well, then that's a problem that they should have talked about first. Ideally, they would be able to work through it and come to the realization that maybe it should be left to the wife since their current MO is leading them toward financial ruin, but some people are all about the ego. If talking it through doesn't work, maybe enlisting an expert broker to talk sense into the guy could help, who knows. Or give the guy a spending limit. What do you suggest?

the whole point of Red Pill is to conform to a standard. Maybe it's because I've always been a bit of a contrarian/nonconformist, but ew. I do see your point, though. There is a dominant widely-accepted definition of what a manly man is, so by adopting that definition, you appeal to the people who hold it. At the end of the day, though, the TRP ideal is the projection of a sliver of dudes on the internet, not some set-in-stone axiom.

Talk about it first. Is one person better at [insert activity here]? Then they should be the one to do [activity]. Winging it is a surefire way to have a terrible relationship.

Red: I cannot deny the fact that sexual dimorphism, however overstated by some TRPers, exists. I am pro-marriage, and see the value in having a stable environment with a paternal and maternal figure for child rearing. This isn't to say that single/nontraditional parents can't be great parents, but that the classic model is a great model. Gender roles are important to an extent. Being physically fit/boosting your attractiveness/being confident/depedestalizing women is good advice. Blue: Women are…

Yeah I agree with you there, he's hardly unattractive by any stretch. In the show the gag is that he's awkward and nerdy, not that he's hideous. So the IRL relationship between is hardly unimaginable.

I prefer to just let shit go if it's not that big a deal. Jenna from nightshift called me a sleaze? IDGAF, I just move on, even if it hurts my feelings or pisses me off in the mean time. If it's a big enough issue that it needs to be addressed, I prefer to talk to the person one on one. If a compromise can be reached I'll go for it in most cases, because again, IDGAF. I suspected so, but he refused to seek professional help while we were together and would deny that he had a problem/get extremely butthurt when I attempted to encourage him to see a clinician. He also had a very unconventional childhood as his parents were missionaries in the Ukraine, Czech, and Turkey and he had lived little of his life in the States. Reentering American society was hard for him, so I think he turned to math and logic as a coping mechanism.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/10/17 11:16 PM
4

No. He was especially obsessed with formal logic and theoretical math, but not the kind that is in demand for computer languages or anything like that. He wasn't even a formal student at the time, though he's now studying Philosophy of Science and Math at the graduate level.

A combination of distance and his near-maniacal obsession with math. Now don't get me wrong, I like a guy who is passionate about his field, but he was taking it to a new level that probably betrayed an underlying mental illness. It got so bad that he wouldn't leave the house except to work and go to the library, and spent our lazy days at home locked away in his study room furiously studying. The dissonance of TRP is hilarious. TRP says that all men want from women is sex... but also that only men can truly love and be loyal while women lustfully swing from branches. What is it, then? Pick one, or acknowledge that love, loyalty, and promiscuity are traits distributed across the genders.

This is one of the most solipsistic things I've ever read. Women don't have the capacity for compassion? Please qualify that statement. Probably has to do with parental indulgence at some point. My mom didn't suffer fools when it came to us complaining as kids, but my best friend's parents (both huge complainers themselves, I might add) coddled her and her sisters. She breaks down and roadblocks at any opportunity. She's working on it now that she has a big girl job, and I'm proud, but the real world has been harsh for her. Well, it gets complicated since "nursing" as a field now is radically different than in the pre-Florence Nightengale era, but in medieval Europe, at least, the closest analog to nursing would have been the care delivered by monastics, largely nuns/sisters but sometimes also the male consecrated. In the ancient era, it was a toss-up as to what gender medical attendants would be IIRC depending on location, but in any case, the Islamic and Christian cultures produced a pretty strongly feminine nurs…

Women freak out if left alone for more then five minutes. What about introverted women? On a side note, I'm currently living in a subdivision of divorced moms, most of whom come off as pretty lonely. Well no shit, they probably just got divorced from half of their social circle and now spend most of their time working and raising their kids. Only interacting with a five year old all day makes you crave adult conversation after a while. Most of the single dads I know are pretty damn lonely themse…

Oh they absolutely will. I was never one for makeup, but my college roommate lived and breathed makeup as her hobby. If I ever made the mistake of asking her for beauty advice, I could count on being subjected to at least 30 minutes of analysis on which base I should use for my skin type, which brands animal tested, how I should change my application technique during my period to combat acne, reapplication timelines, and so on. Sometimes she'd even call an equally knowledgeable friend to consult…

Eh. I think it's a little hackneyed, to be honest. If adding a kill-or-be-killed framework to life is something that an individual needs to get motivated or to stop being a doormat, cool. But I can also totally see how internalizing this sort of language could lead to an unhappy existence, or at least a lot of unnecessary negativity. Why make a fight out of everything? Why see everyone as the enemy, or every activity as a conquest, when in life many things are neutral, zero-sum situations, and m…

IME most people I know in engineering (my brothers included) got into it because they loved/found themselves to be good at the subject matter. I don't know why you think being a SAHM is taking advantage of a safety net. Sure, I suppose they don't have the pressure of bringing home the bacon on her shoulders, but what happens if her husband fails? If the women in my life are any indication, they keep that shit running so that their husbands can focus on maximizing earning potential. And if she's a shitty wife, well, that "safety net" could very well disappear and then she'll be super fucked with nothing on her resume.

Fascinating. I'm not Muslim or from a region that is predominantly Muslim, but have traveled extensively around the Middle East. People like to lump in all together as being unilaterally shitty for women there, but the differences I found between Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Oman, Palestine, Indonesia, and Dubai were pretty marked. A Saudi woman even told me she chooses to wear niqab outside of the country because it is part of her Saudi cultural heritage, not because of her faith. Fascinating stuff…

Yeah, I know a chick like that from my high school. She's royally fucked in the head, though, and has been for as long as I've known her. I've surprised this arrangement has lasted as long as it has (maybe 1.5 years). I don't personally know any other women in that sort of a situation, though. Bonus question: hmm. I'm Anglo-Catholic. I do not believe that the idea of women having authority equal to men outside of the Church hierarchy is at all un-Biblical or immoral. In fact, I believe Jesus embodied counter-cultural attitudes towards women during his earthly ministry, doing a much better job of treating us like human equals than I've ever seen a redpiller do. Of course it's the case if you share the definition of "being a woman" that I hold. I myself have a college degree, but many women in my family, church, and workplace do not, and they are still strong, vivacious, intellectually inquisitive, bold women who live life with relish. Life happens. I used to be a collegiate athlete in ridiculously good shape because all I did was train and could eat whatever I wanted. I kept that up after college as much as I could, but moving to a largely sedentary job working 12 hour days on top of taking more classes just made the gym impossible. My metabolism slowed down as I lost muscle mass and before I knew it, I was getting chubby for the first time in my life. I'm hardly "fat" these days, but I could stand to lose a few pounds. It's …

I have a small amount of experience with both. I had a stint at a fundamentalist Christian school that segregated classes when I was quite young, and briefly taught at a girls' school in Jordan (which was by extension an all-female workplace except for the custodian). I'm not a huge fan of single-sex education, really. There may be benefits, I suppose, but too much gender segregation IMO can lead to really distorted views of the other gender, especially when you're growing up. Then, following in…

It's getting more and more common for couples to go dutch on the first few dates, at least, and then start taking turns from there on out. At least, that's what I've seen going on for the last few years as a recent college grad. I'll let a date pay my share if we are going somewhere completely out of my price range that he is dead set on, but even then I insist on picking up the tip. I despise feeling obligated.

Right, like a woman would have been allowed to organize a national EMS or Fire system in the 1910s when it was starting to ramp up. I can't help but resent (and laugh at) the implication that I am inferior to you purely because of my gender. Check my post history- I'm a fire fighter/EMT, happily contributing to my community's safety on top of grad school. How many lives have you saved this week? And does a society really need deep sea fishermen to be considered advanced? Indubitably, an all-female society would have to look different... but that doesn't mean that it wouldn't be sophisticated or successful. The Umayyads and t…

*fare. FTFY. And actually, I did think about it. Outside of combat/SWAT roles, there are very few things that the right woman couldn't handle. Even so, in the hypothetical world of only women that OP cooked up, wars would be woman on woman, so an even match. Heavy labor? Eh, pile on more workers to get the job done, innovate, make use of beasts of burden or technology. Necessity is the mother of invention, after all.

Alright, I'm just going to conclude you're trolling and move the fuck on. Blaming a woman for abuse? Despicable.

To avoid it What about when the father just walks out, or she finally musters up the strength to leave an abusive relationship? What is she supposed to do then? Does "all costs" extend to the risk of bodily harm?

Ha. You have me pegged- Meyers Briggs declared me the elusive female INTP, not that I put much stock in that metric. I suppose I'm glad that you've acknowledged our existence; AWALT tends to steamroll right over us, even though we are not that statistically insignificant. I digress. Personality metrics like that aren't good predictors, IMO, of how a person will behave in a romantic relationship. Mental health history, family history, role models, perhaps even SES are better indicators, I'd ventu…

There's a distinction between visual deception and outright emotional or mental manipulation, however. So I might decide to wear concealer on a given day to hide an untimely zit. So what? It's not like I'm committing an egregious fraud by hiding a blotch for a day or two while it fades. Forcing my partner into dependency, on the other hand, is a whole different ballgame.

True. It would probably prompt the development of a different sort of primitive technology, however. Necessity is the mother of invention. Also recall that while women are objectively not as physically strong as men, we aren't total weaksauce. What might take an average man medium or low amounts of exertion, I can also complete though it requires more effort on my part. I'm a pretty small woman, but I have little difficulty slashing down small trees to create a lean-to when I'm bushwhacking, or …

Nah, the other side of the coin. The constant wondering and possible anxiety of losing them prompted by the hints and suggestions of his/her partner implying the ever-present threat of leaving or infidelity. It's called dread game for a reason.

I'm not terribly inclined to accept an armchair blogger's best estimate on distribution, but whatever. Also, unless I missed it, I don't think she gives a firm figure on what "most" means. Is "most" 51%? Or is it 99%? Either is semantically correct, but with vastly different ramifications. Futhermore, she (I think correctly) attributes a lot of shortcomings to upbringing. So it's not an intrinsic, innate characteristic to women. I'd wager that the more women enter positions that reward hard work…

You literally just sent me those exact links above, one of which is dead. Anyway, I digress. I'd venture that men in general are more exposed to the sort of skills applicable to that sort of situation than girls are- I can recall quite clearly my irritation when I noticed that my brothers were learning all sorts of cool survivor skills in Boyscouts while I was being taught how to sew and garden in Girlscouts. I had to take it upon myself to learn on my own what my brothers were receiving from a …

Is an engineered "reality" TV show really such a great example to cite here? I could just as easily point out that I go on a wilderness hiking bare bones survival excursion with a group of women every summer and it always ends up great. The ex-military chick generally becomes the de facto navigator, someone ends up taking over meal planning and making sure we aren't burning through supplies too quickly, and generally I end up doing all the technical stuff. It happens naturally, and it works. Now…

I hate relying on anecdata, but in my experience the "like that" women are not common enough to be representative of women as a whole. This is probably due to a level of confirmation bias as my social circle is largely either nerdy academics or the rugged-type of women who gets into the Public Safety industry (hint- the coddled type of women that she and other RPers decry can't hack it for very long here), but it's still the reality for plenty of people. The same could be true of the opposite st…

Eh, I disagree with some of the rigidity that she imposes on her "types" of women and the tack she takes in establishing an historical context, but all in all it's a refreshing break from the disaster of the dominant AWALT discourse. It's nothing revolutionary- of course women who throw tantrums or have histrionic personalities are going to be shoddy relationship material, and the same goes for men like that. That said, she acknowledges the personhood of women and the levels of diverse personali…

A lot of the strategies employed involve a certain level of manipulation or outright deceit. Dread game? Come on. I've seen women (and men on the receiving end) destroyed by that shit. It essentially amounts to gaslighting lite. And negging? Yeah, putting down another person and striking their insecurities on the offchance that they might be insecure enough to put out is a pretty dick move. And don't even get me started on the MRP stuff- some of the frame-keeping tactics can get really out of ha…

I guess you mean consensus instead of consent? Ok, then get the managerial-minded women who have developed leadership skills on the job to designate the hierarchy.

Queen Hatshepsut was a total G, Wu Zetian did alright and was eventually overshadowed by Cixi, Artemisia led a kick-ass army, the Trung Sisters led heckin rice farmers to wage a successful rebellion against China, Joan of Arc stepped up, and Amina of Nigeria built a pretty badass city out of GOLD that she wheedled out of subsaharan Africa after a history of really bad trade relations under her predecessors. Brits don't have the monopoly, though their legacy is perhaps better known.

I think the best refutation to that would be to highlight the fact that oftentimes, men were the ones who were taught those skills by their fathers, just as women taught home management skills to their daughters. Young girls could probably pick up those skills pretty adeptly.

Women lack the ability to build proper hierarchical structures because it's very hard for them to make decisions without consent. Yeaaaaahhhhh I made my own choices and ended up fine. Chose to do EMT school before college against all advice (ended up being a great fucking move, too), chose my university with little input from my parents who just wanted me to go to their alma mater, chose to study abroad on my own, chose Anthropology as my major even though my dad tried to force me to study busin…

A lot of our current systemic problems are due to overpopulation. While I'm sure there would be an initial sharp drop in production, supply will meet demand as women step up and take the jobs.

I think this kind of misses the spirit of the problem. The role of poverty should definitely be considered, as single-parent homes are six times more likely to be below the poverty line (familyfacts.org), and almost 40% of single-mother homes were defined that way in 2013. Poverty has often been correlated with the development of bad behavior. Additionally, it's intuitive that families with one parent will have dramatically worse supervision, as the parent probably has to work full time or overt…

Exactly. By the time I was a senior in college, I was starting to get fed up with the immaturity of underclassmen. Having just graduated, now I can't stand it. I dated men younger than myself during that time, but now it's out of the question- the difference of life experience and the ability to "adult" is that off-putting.

All I know is that it was deeply generationally entrenched. The worst were the women who enforced it. They were run-down, exhausted, often afraid to be anywhere that wasn't home, the store, or church, but damn did they love to rip in to girls who stood out of line. I think their spirits were broken. And then, of course, the men had all this pressure to be the ubermensch and spiritual captains or whatever, which is pretty shitty, too. It was just a shitty cycle of people being shitty to each othe…

I'm pretty blue. I was also subject to attending a fundamentalist cult school from 8-13 where the creepy, old head pastor of the church/school principal would frequently make the young girls kneel on the ground in front of him, so that he could bring out a ruler and measure the distance between the hems of our skirts and our knees. If it was more than an inch, we had to go home. The men (there were only two female teachers there) told me that because I was female, I couldn't read the Bible on my…
