I don't understand how pointing to countries on a nameless map is useful for anything, especially when you have so much information on the internet. If you've ever read Fahrentheit 451, the main antagonist Beatty put it very eloquently: (paraphrasing) "If you can get people to memorize worthless trivial facts (like naming countries on a map) it bloats them with fake knowledge and makes them feel intelligent and well informed to distract them from the really important issues."
