Lots of autistic people have increased focus in certain areas, but it varies. Savant Syndrome is what a lot of people picture when thinking about autism (I think in part to Rain Man), which is extreme aptitude in some areas combined with typically severe mental disabilities. That’s people who are able to do stuff like calculate exactly what day of the week any given date was, or replicate any song they heard perfectly on piano after just hearing it once.

This has changed a lot in recent decades. Children in the past were seen as more hands to work and to make money, as well as a retirement plan. They’re much more of a financial burden now, and financial support into old age is a lot less guaranteed.

I’ve seen more criticism of women being with much younger men from women than I have from men. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a woman express anything but disgust at Aaron Taylor Johnson’s relationship, but I’ve had men tell me he was lucky for it.

But pay for previously male dominated careers lower as more women join them. So if enough women choose a specific different job, within a couple decades that research can be very inaccurate.

Yeah, my bad, I read your original comment wrong. You’re just schizophrenic.

An individual link means nothing. Yes, women are capable of being shitty mothers. That doesn’t change that men are much more likely to be abusive, when they’re in their kids lives. Obviously excellent fathers exist, but fathers being bad parents is much more normalized than women being bad mothers. Mothers have higher expectations on them in terms of caring for their children and are judged more harshly when they don’t live up to them.

Awful example. There’s no “how are men doing” posts because it’s an accepted thing. There’s no need for one because no one here will deny that men are on average not doing mentally well. But there are plenty of comments here denying that women are also having a shitty time.

This is not the no true Scotsman fallacy in the any way. This is “Scotsmen are all complex people who can put varying amounts of sugar on their porridge because they’re all individuals”.

Your last sentence makes no sense. Children forced to work for slave wages in South Asia are as capitalist as one can get, are you willing to live like them?

Probably significantly better than after she’s given birth to your child lol

I think it’s a ridiculous dealbreaker, absolutely. I still think anyone educated who knows of your dealbreaker shouldn’t lie about it, that’s wrong and gross. Lying so someone stays in a relationship they would not want to be in if they knew the truth is disgusting.

I have no issue with paternity tests, they’re fine. I have an issue with lying to your partner about something you know would likely be a dealbreaker. I’d apply this to literally anything. I think people deserve to know what they’re getting into when in a committed relationship, regardless of my opinion on whether their dealbreakers are fair or not.

“Cheating is morally wrong because it’s against my morals” is goofy. WHY is it against your morals. Morals don’t just pop into existence, there is a reason to be opposed to everything you consider immoral. For the majority of people, the general basis is about weighing harm done by each action. You’d be cool with it if your partner secretly went through your text messages to make sure you weren’t cheating?

That’s the point. If you know something is likely a dealbreaker, it’s your responsibility to reveal it before they’re tied to you forever.

An accusation of disloyalty like a paternity test is a dealbreaker for a lot of people. Intentionally keeping something you know is potentially a dealbreaker secret until your partner is trapped is absolutely a scumbag move.

In both those cases a faithful partner has complete right to be offended and leave.

Cheating is morally wrong because you’re going behind your partners back to do something you know would hurt them. If you know that getting a paternity test would hurt your partner, that’s also morally wrong.

That doesn’t change the point of the post. If you’re having sex that could result in pregnancy (which you must be, in order to think it possible that you’re the father), you should make clear your requirements for any potential baby before she gets pregnant. No where in the post is a critique of paternity tests, just not being upfront about it.

Yes, that absolutely does happen. It just doesn’t happen most of the time. Most people are not abusive. Most people don’t hit their partners.

No, most people do not abuse others. Most have no desire to abuse others.

“You have to intimidate your girlfriend or else she’ll beat you” is a hell of a take. If she’s the type of person to beat someone who she thinks is smaller than her, then you shouldn’t date her in the first place.

The vast majority of these women wouldn’t be interested in these men either. Either way someone is trading affection towards someone they’re not attracted to for money/experiences.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
