What’s the best way to respond to it?Firstly it isn't correct, its completely incorrect because it isn't reality, leaving out 50% of a population is gross incompetence and blatant lack of professional integrity. And the correct response isnt to be quiet and ignore blatant sexism, homophobia and discrimination of rape victims. The fact you seem so okay with that says an awful lot about your character. In the US the definition was different state to state but event changed. But the biggest problem was different police departments recorded different things. Some labelled male victims as SA and others labelled it as rape. When the FBI collected all data males couldn't fit their definition, so those departments were excluded from fbi crime statistics.
