She's talking about taxes I think, one of their big talking points was that women's products are taxed and men's products aren't. I assume men's razors are taxed in the states just like tampons though in which case her sign still doesn't make sense. However I do have a question. I'm not American, and I also don't (yet) buy Viagra or Rogaine, but those are the two men's products they most often point out as being untaxed while women's products (mainly tampons and birth control) are. Is this true?…

Yeah I think we're way off topic, and I am just rambling / venting. I can't imagine what I'd be like if I stayed with the church, because I would HAVE to be a completely different person for that to happen. I'd probably be a lot poorer financially, but I'd probably have more people in my life, but I probably wouldn't feel close to any of them. I don't think I'd be any happier. That pretty much sums up what it has done for most of the people in my life, but they feel obligated to keep doing it.

My parents helped ground me as an individual. Above everything else, I think that is what is most important, is how your parents raised you. Maybe Catholicism provides a good guide for parents, but I know plenty of people that grew up without religion that are just as good as people, some even better, than myself. I don't like the notion that you NEED Catholicism to be a good person. "If you're not Catholic then I have no idea where your moral compass is". IMO that's bullshit. Some people maybe …

I also spent 12 years in Catholic school, church every Sunday and often weekdays too. I left the church 15 years ago and I've never looked back. For me it wasn't the sermons, it was the people. I don't need someone telling me I'm shit when I can clearly see it all over them. The first time I masturbated I felt like I deserved to die, and I was made to tell a drooling moth balled old man in a stuffy room every time I did. I still hate myself a little bit every time I have sex, even today, the gui…

Just now I pictured myself in a lecture hall with a professor of another race. Then I imagined feeling uncomfortable and unrepresented because of it, like I somehow couldn't relate to or accept that person as my educator because they weren't the same race. I felt like a racist piece of shit. If that is how these people live every day, that is kind of horrifying. They're willfully embracing their own deeply racist attitudes.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
