Exactly. Take some responsibility for your own happiness. I’m literally out here trying to give us all the best life possible with zero help. I’m going to do my best to be there for you always, but don’t just bail when things get tough. Anyways that was 3 years ago now, not sure if she’s much happier or had any realizations. Guess I’ll never know.

This is a repost and I can’t remember who posted it but I think it’s relevant here. Speak up if it was you! Marriage has undergone drastic changes since the early 1970s. What used to be the bedrock of Western culture with life-long commitment and unbreakable barring the most severe circumstances, has been relegislated into something entirely new thanks to the lobbying efforts of radical feminists and the divorce industry. This includes legalized abortion, no-fault divorce, domestic violence laws…

Of course. She has to reinforce that narrative she’s stuck in. Doesn’t bother me though, only if you let it.

So when we split, my kids were 5 and 3. In the spirit of doing “what was best for the kids”, they stayed in the family home. We didn’t think it was a good idea to bounce them back and forth between us so young, plus I couldn’t even find 2 bedroom housing due to where I live. And now it’s an uphill battle, I feel your struggle. She’s changed so much in the past year or so. My kids don’t hate me by any means, but I don’t want to become Disneyland Dad. I’m still involved in their lives daily and th…

I just hit 2 years since I moved out. It’s been peaks and valleys. The first year was the darkest valley. The second year has been some growth but I just went through a really rough patch recently. I felt revitalized this New Years though, I’m still facing some big challenges but i know I can get through. I read this quote, about a boy lost. “I can't see a way through”, said the boy. “Can you see your next step?" “Yes” “Just take that”, said the horse. - The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse …

I agree. However I also don’t feel a need to control her at all. She’s an adult, she wanted to see the other side of the fence, and so she is now. The only thing I care about is that my kids are safe. But the expense has been fucking tremendous on this side, cast into the void almost overnight, financially ruined and the hardest part, living alone and away from your kids. Fighting to see them. I am still working through the resentment part but I’m worn out. To drive up to your old house and see …

It was strange timing and sadly you’re probably right. He was leaving. The kids were asking me “who is that, dad?” I said “you’ll have to ask your mom guys I’m not sure”. They asked her and she said “oh my friends are just leaving”. That was that, they didn’t ask anything after that. Clearly it was one guy leaving, so not sure why she said that, I guess maybe she wasn’t wanting to say it’s her boyfriend or something. It was kind of surreal.
