This is only for children. Also, 80% of cases for the "perpetrators of boys" involve males, and 98% of "perpetrators of girls" involve males. I'm sick of people in this sub trying to skew the reality of what's going on instead of just working to solve it.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I find it very difficult to have an actual conversation in this sub most of the time. I'd like to ask, what parts of the video do you find most informative? To respond to what you wrote: As far as deadbeat dads, women should be held accountable for their decisions. Being a deadbeat dad isn't a woman's decision, though. You can't hold a woman responsible for actions that aren't hers. Not only is it assuming that her partner was "deadbeat" from the beginning, it…

You're probably right, but this guy thinks the video should be in the sidebar, so I assume he watched it. I wanted to know what he thinks of the quotes I pulled.

and 25:36, women who "ride the cock carousel" are "used up" and have gone down in "market value". Edit: He's reverting to the oldest double standard out there! He's saying women who have sex are sluts, but men should totally go out and have sex with as many "young, hot, women" as they can! And on top of it, make sure not to commit to any of them- they just want your money! I certainly hope this is not representative of what MRAs think.

21:23 he's saying "deadbeat dads" are women's fault because the women slept with deadbeats in the first place, and the deadbeats are "responding to demand". Do you agree with this?

What? No one ever said that... People in these comments are saying the clip is terrible but no one says why. I'm confuses because the clip sounds good to me.

What was wrong with what they said? I thought MRAs would support fighting against society's definition of masculinity.

So what was wrong with anything they said? They seemed to be arguing for things you guys claim to support.

feminism addresses it by saying it's because men are percieved as more capable than women. A ship is sinking, so society says you get the women and children off first. Rather than this being because males are disposable, it's because society groups women with children and sees both as incompetent, so men must be the noble protectors and save them. It's their duty because the women can't do it for themselves. Edit: So basically, it's society forcing men to be "noble", not society seeing men as di…

I wasn't here to get in an argument about if he is a good or bad influence. I wanted to survey what people thought. You get different responses when you start with an opinion. I don't think either of us is going to change the others' minds. Just wanted to see about what percentage of people here liked his work.

not quote mining, not making unsubstantiated accusations, not advocating putting innocent people in jail. it's dumb that I have to plainly say that. I also am not putting words into your mouth, like you are trying to do to me. I'm doing the opposite by asking if you agree with a prominent spokesperson, rather than trying to make you defend everything he has said. I haven't attacked anyone; I have only given my opinion after you asked what it was. I have not contorted your statements, like you ha…

you want me to go down the list? nope- I asked for everyone's opinions, and expected a variety of answers. but so far everyone has shown support no- first amendment and all that jazz no- don't care to "poison the MRM" against him. just hoped they didn't like him no- talk however you want. However, you will probably make more progress being less abrasive. That's irrelevant to this thread though. You feeling the need to be louder, harder, and more vehement does not give a free pass for things Elam…

you're jumping to a hell of a lot of (inaccurate) conclusions there my friend I do think he spreads hate and uses lots of faulty arguments, so I mostly avoid giving him attention. I hear a lot of bad things about this sub, similar to the heinous things that Mr. Elam says, so I wanted to get a feel for how people here view him. I hoped he was viewed as an extremist... So far the most upvoted comment is that they don't like everything he has said, but like that he's "doing something". I was hoping…

They are looking for a young, single, childless, educated, pretty (pic needed), female. Sounds more like the employer is a creeper than this being an offense against men's rights....

you guys are missing it. He wants to like pink ponies without it reflecting on his gender or sexuality. Feminism fights gender roles (and other forms of discrimination like against LGBTQ people) Feminist thought works here.

This post is about victim blaming; saying that a woman who gets attacked shouldn't be blamed for the attack b/c she didn't carry a weapon, use the buddy system, or she went out late at night. The title is misleading and not at all related to the point the picture is trying to get across. It's implying that when men are victims they aren't blamed for the attack nearly as often. They aren't questioned about their clothing or why they were alone.

Sure, I guess I'm good at veiling the fact that I stay up in my lair all night, cackling and laying the foundations for my evil plan to rule the earth, empowered by feminism, and plot to rule with an iron fist that I can use to beat all the disorderly menfolk... So you don't care to link me to these royal left-right-and-center screwings?

I'm with you 100% on your last paragraph. I don't think everyone who calls themselves a feminist is automatically right, obviously, but I have a very positive impression of the overall movement. I like that they fight for women's rights in 3rd world countries. I like that they fight gender roles and slut shaming. I also like that a lot of feminist analysis is used to support other groups that are oppressed, like minorities and the LGBTQ community. They are bigoted, sexist, violent, deluded, fear…

It's not strange that you get it from feminists. Thats a pretty good source... lol I'm curious WHAT feminists because the (limited) pieces that I've studied do not have the problems that I've seen described in this sub. I don't understand how anyone could contest the very broad themes, like getting rid of gender roles, that I view to be the most prominent issues feminism addresses. (And in this case, the MRM would agree with the feminist stance. Gender roles suck for everyone.) I'm aware that "f…

What's your source? I don't know if the numbers you cited are in the same study I cited. you do not have a good understanding of feminism if you really think it expects men to "take responsibility for the choices of women". Rape is rape, and should be punished. I think drunk sex should be treated as such, but there are obviously a lot of cases where there is grey area when alcohol is involved. I know several women who were raped, while drunk, and it was most definitely not drunk sex, and I'm sur…

And how is this anti-man? Anyone can use condoms. A woman raping a man may still use a condom. Also, women (especially lesbian women who use toys on >1 person) often use them to cover dildos... so I was told in graphic detail by someone at a PRIDE parade. Spreading a message of consent is gender-neutral, and I think perfectly appropriate.

Are you saying you were raped because you had drunk sex? ... I am aware that some crazy people will say that you guys raped each other because you were "incapable of consent", but I don't think that sort of thing is counted in the stats I cited. I listed the sources; they are reliable. It's not some fringe group going overboard. The case you described is sad and it's an outlier. That's why it got news coverage. It's not representative of the typical person put in prison. (I got prison vs. jail d…

I pointed out a flaw in your interpretation of the statistic. Perfectly valid. Rape does not have to be the most common crime resulting in sentencing... There could be many reasons for your cited project to have 70% of the people they got exonerated be jailed for rape. The most likely explanation is that they focused on rape cases. (I highly doubt they attended to every type of crime case at the same rates they happen. Because unless the project does, the percentages of exonerated people for eac…

It's talking about false allegations; those men were not all convicted. It's very hard to convict; thankfully in our system you're innocent until proven guilty. There are holes in the system, but it usually works pretty well. Out of the people exonerated by this project, what percentage of total convicted rapists did they make up? My bet is that it's a fairly small percentage. This statistic may indicate that a person is more likely to get falsely sentenced for rape than other crimes, but not th…

I wouldn't call it "a lot". If you trust Wikipedia: FBI reports consistently put the number of "unfounded" rape accusations around 8%.[8] However, "unfounded" is not synonymous with "false" allegation.[9] The largest study, published in 2005, was based on 2,643 sexual assault cases and found 3% of false reports.[10][11][12] Even one is too many, but the number is not nearly as high as I've seen many MRA's argue.

the key there is some women. that scenario is very real and hurtful to some women, and there are others, who like you said, use sex as a tool for control. just because some women are assholes who do that doesn't mean that you can write off the poor treatment of others. it doesn't invalidate the argument. also, yes, sex can be an incentive, but that woman has no power over you if you just decide "this shit isn't worth it to get in her pants". she has no power over you if you can think for yoursel…
