It's a natural reaction to be defensive and irrational when you've been a victim to something like MGM. The victim will try to justify that it was a good thing even though it goes against all logic. It's a way of dealing. And with something like MGM, this can't be unchanged so there's an even greater need for the victim to feel ok about it.
