I was born and raised in Germany but went to university in the UK and, as part of my studies there, also went to the US for one year. So I've been through the whole process of adjusting to a new culture twice. You need to give yourself time. There'll be some parts of the culture that you enjoy and others that you don't, and that's completely normal. Same goes for people. Just realized you're German as well from reading another thread here. I moved abroad four years ago after my Abitur and never really got the hang of picking up German girls. Great to see some German FRs, might help my game back home after all. Till then I'm gonna be the 'hot foreign guy'. Gotta love British/American girls!

Me and my brother were both born and raised in Germany but are going to college in the US/UK. I haven't really figured out how to approach German women, it just seems so random. Dude I love being the foreigner! I went abroad after high school to go to university and now I'm off to grad school. Work the accent, the crazy stories from home and be excited about stuff they take for granted. Looking back I've hooked up with 5 times as many foreign girls than from my own country and I feel like it's remarkably easy. Just have to calibrate and tweak your game a bit, but the essentials (kino etc) are the same.

Dunno anything about NZ dating, tbh. Generally Eastern European girls are quite offensive and aggressive. Just go with the flow and escalate, but don't worry about semantics like whether it's a date or not. And keep us posted!

This might sound odd to you, but Europeans don't really date. They meet up and see how it goes, but we don't differentiate between 'dates' and 'non-dates'. Confused the hell outta back in the days. From her age I gather it's her first time in the States as a 'dateable woman' so I wouldn't worry too much about classifying your get-together. I'll feel ya, I used to be in the same spot. I'd say cut them loose; it seems you're just a convenient punching bag for you. I did and I couldn't be happier with my new friends. Friends don't define you. Stick to your dad and brother though and try to work it out (maybe by telling them how you actually feel about the situation), it's family after all. As you say, dominance is not being a jerk. Use that insight to become a better alpha than them.
