Womanism is actually the result of black women not having a place in mainstream Feminist discourse, which was and continues to be predominantly white. 1	Is it possible to be an MRA without being a Feminist? Moral of the story: capital F Feminism sucks, but that's always been the case. I've been lurking in this subreddit for a while, and one thing that strikes me as interesting is that the MRA critique of capital F Feminism (the political, mainstream Feminism) is similar to the multitude of critiques by women of color and the queer community. 1	Is it possible to be an MRA without being a Feminist? That's interesting. I learned rape culture theory through self-described feminist professors and student activists, and not only was I taught rape culture's original theorization through the prison system, I was taught that rape culture is in fact egalitarian. I do know approximately 3 radfems (one of whom was a self-described 1st Wave Feminist, which is pretty telling) who argue that rape culture doesn't also victimize men, but these women have always been (appropriately) corrected.
