Please check the date of this post for me. I posted this weeks before the show came out. It was a prediction, and why I got a few things wrong, I was at least right about the central argument I was trying to make, which is that the core cause of the entire situation resulted as a denial of due process and not because we didn't believe the woman (and thus assume guilt of the accused). That's the only point I was making. That's literally it. The thing is, while the show clearly did no endorse the …

It's not telling you anything. If it does, you're reading too much into it. I got falsely accused of harassment right when all the #believewomen talking points were getting rammed down people's throats. I got tired of hearing that. It's not unreasonable to conclude that the show would have jumped on the bandwagon as alot of other media outlets did. It was a prediction and not an indicator of how the show would actually go.

If I'd have to grade you in civility it would be an F. Thanks for proving my point.

I don't get the angry mob showing up in a post I typed over two months ago. This was a prediction and not intended to be a review of the show. People can chill.

Sounds like you're capable of having a civil conversation.

Ahhh okay. They should really ought to change the title because it implies the "believe the victim" narrative. But if they are not trying to push agenda then I suppose that's good news.

Thanks but you have nothing to be sorry about lol. You're not part of the people who have created this mess.

Not at all. She was a generally toxic person with a troubled history with relationships. To be honest I jumped into a relationship at the time mostly for the sex (and that was the impression I got from her as well) but with it came a desire to take 100% of my time, gaslighting me, destorying relationships with my closest friends, and a personality that went from hot to cold in a matter of seconds. In addition to the generally abusive behavior, she filed a false police report claiming that I was …

I really want this message to be true. However, "worried about saying something wrong, writing something wrong", or doing something wrong for that matter is completely justified. As doing/saying something wrong can open you up to false allegations. Source: a man who was suspended from school on false allegations

There's alot to unpack here. So they're deciding that the "victim" in the situation no longer has to provide evidence that she resisted or said no, because an absense of those things doesn't mean it wasn't rape. This may not sound bad at first. HOWEVER, they are essentially stating that if the victim give any signals that it wasn't consentual or wasn't under coercion in any way, she still could could have been raped. That does, in a way, push the blame onto men, because in that situation it comp…

I lost my job, got suspended from school, lost most of my close friends, and was forced to move because of a false allegation. The culture we live in doesn't care unfortunately.

She actually wasn't even sentenced to anything. It was a deal with the prosecuters to have the charges dropped in exchange for a $500 fine and mental health counseling.

No but she was a suspect at that point. Not yet charged, but that doesn't matter. The police officer coerced her into signing a confession and in that situation, it's a denial of due process. In order for something like that to be valid, he would have to actually charge her first and then read off her Miranda rights. I agree I could have worded it better but my point in writing all of this is that it's a due process issue, and not a "we should start by believing the victim" issue.

From the original story: Without reading Marie her rights — you have the right to an attorney, you have the right to remain silent — the detectives asked Marie to write out the true story, admitting she had lied, admitting, in effect, that she had committed a crime. She agreed, so they left her alone for a few minutes. Everything I mentioned was their words not mine.

I've actually read through the story that this series is based on. It's right here if anyone wants to read it, but regardless there is a few things I got out of it that you're not likely to see in the Netflix series: The rapist in question was a 30 year old Bundy-like pyscocapth that was convicted for breaking into the homes of dozens of women and raping them using blunt force. Not exactly the picture of a 19 year-old socially akward college kid who "misunderstood nonverbal cues" that is the com…

Having gone through it myself, I am starting to believe that it is actually quite common. The idea that feminists keep pushing on society that this “almost never happens” simply doesn't hold true.

Here´s the way I look at it: If feminists want to use that argument, they should be calling out the things individuals in their community say that is outright horrible. For instance, when women who have alot of status and prestige within feminist groups such as Emily Linden or Lena Dunham make the ridiculously absurd claim on Twitter that ruining innocent men's lives is okay, they should be called out for it. But you won´t see that happen. For instance, in the aftermath I never saw even ONCE ano…

Right here! I was publicly (and falsely) accused of sexual misconduct and I don’t feel comfortable approaching women anymore.

Exactly! Some of these feminist types try to claim the age difference is creepy and disgusting, only to turn around and enable the same men in the name of “empowerment” or some shit

What’s ironic is that the only people I’ve met who actually behave in this manner are male feminists.

I’m not arguing that the guy is perfect because absolutely nobody is. What I am arguing against is the mob-like attitude that they have to completely deconstruct every historical figure and poke flaws in them, that once they do the person literally human scum and is not allowed to be admired for any reason despite the presence of numerous amazing deeds, and that they do all this while claiming to be morally perfect themselves / ignoring their own glaring problems.

My life basically got destroyed from a false allegation of sexual misconduct. I’ve had to spend the last two years starting my life over. Believe me when I say you do NOT want to go through this and be thankful that you’re in a position where you haven’t experienced discrimination yet. Also, we live in an era where being part of a victim group is cool or trendy. Don’t buy into it. People who parade themselves around as victims are never happy with themselves.

It would take a team of scientist years to unscrew that woman's mind...which is why I don't even both trying to talk to them any longer. Years of indocrination will mess a person up like that.

Nope, one again I will allow criticism of the men’s rights movement if there’s evidence to back it up. Hell, even I have my own criticisms of the movement because I recognize the fact that nothing is perfect and there is always things we could improve in. You, on the other hand, cannot fathom the idea that someone would possibly have legitimate objections to feminism, and that says all it needs to say.

LMAO you really spent all that time digging through my post history just to prove a few internet strangers wrong? I’m honestly flattered lol. But if you’re really gonna do that, then at least don’t be so selective and ignore what like 80% of them are saying: That at 19 years old, I was falsely accused of sexual abuse/misconduct as an undergrad student. That I lost vast majority of my friends and received bullying/harrassment on a daily basis because of it. That I was arrested and charged with …

Nope, if the criticism is directed towards instances where we’ve actually campaigned against women’s rights, I would say that criticism towards us is absolutely justified. But like where are the examples of us doing so? We get people all the time that say “MENS RIGHTS JUST WANTS TO OPPRESS WOMEN” but can’t explain where/how. Like if this type of bigotry actually exists in our movement I wanna know so I can call it out. Regardless though, none of this takes away from the fact that western feminis…

No, that is absolutely incorrect. When you have a political/cultural movement that fundamentally calls for stripping men of basic civil rights, than than crtiticism of that movement (with evidence to back it up) is absolutely justified.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who realised this. I’ve been consistantly dating starting 6-7 years ago and ending about a year-and-a-half ago. It was towards the end of that time period that something suddenly happened and the new girls I was meeting seemed incredibly shallow/boring. I can’t tell whether it was the fact that I’m in my early 20’s now and girls my age tend to just act that way, or if there is something else going on.

Notice how they’ve gone from “toxic masculinty” to “traditional masculinity”? Like it’s not just a certain type of masculinity now. It’s the entire basis of anything society traditionally considers masculine.

Which is why I am trying to break the cycle. I’ve been falsely accused myself, which developed into PTSD / made me afraid to be anywhere near women. But then I realised that feeling is giving exactly what feminist ideology wants: to be afraid of women. So I’m learning to let go of those fears and hope that those from the opposite sex do the same.

Yeah that is what happened to me. My ex was stalking me and when I confronted her about it, she immediately turned it around by filing a Title IX report.
/r/MensRights27/05/19 05:27 AM

Exactly! Building a sense of fear in people, even if it’s completely based in irrationality, can be used as a very powerful tool to control someone. According to feminist ideology, women should be constantly in fear of being sexually asaulted. Men nowadays have to be constantly in fear of life-altering false allegations. Damage has been done to the relationship between the sexes that otherwise was not there before.

It’s going with the general trend in the film industry, where the belief is that anything that appeals to a more male-dominated audience is inherently sexist.

Have you ever met a happy feminist? It’s practically an oxymoron. They don’t exist. Rather, they always seem to be extremely bitter and resentful people. If we want to see real change happen with men’s issues, we must have female allies, and to do that they must realize that the alternative (feminism) isn’t offering them anything positive.

Yup, I discovered this subbreddit years ago and though it was a complete joke. It took something actually terrible happening to me (getting my life almost completely destroyed by a false allegation) to realize the sub was actually on to something.

As for the case in which there isn’t enough evidence to convict an actual rapist, let’s instead focus on preventing that situation from ever occuring in the first place. Using some common sense, a woman can avoid putting herself from putting herself in a position where someone would be able to rape her AND leave no evidence behind. At the very least, we would have a situation where CCTV footage or some type of evidence exists. We’re no having this conversation because feminists love to phrase it…

As someone who’s been on the receiving end of severe bullying due to a false allegation, I totally agree with the word “survivor” being used to describe us.

In my opinion, I personally don‘t believe it should matter if whether it’s 5% or it’s 90%. Hell, even if it’s 1%, it shouldn’t be a justification to assume guilt. I think any amount of innocent people being thrown into prison as a means to justify an end is an utterly dangerous and authoritarian idea. But I guess I’m old fashioned in holding this belief as it’s clearly not the mainstream belief anymore.

This right here. I myself have been falsely accused back at my old university, and the sheer amount of bullying and harrassment I received simply from other students was enough to develop long-lasting mental health conditions. Whenever I tell this story to the average person, the responses are always the same. That it I was overexaggerating and just need to get over it, or that my situation was an extremly rare case, or even that I was flat out lying about it just to try to justify rapists. Pa…

Thanks man but there is really no need to apologize since you’re not the one who contributed to this mess. People don’t understand how much it actually damaged psychologically. They see I’ve transferred to another school and on track to graduate, and assume things are better now. What they don’t see is that I don’t feel any happiness towards anything anymore. Nothing seems to have any meaning. I can’t trust anyone anymore. I will NEVER be able to form a relationship with someone again - I accept…

I am a 21 year old who in the US / Not Britain, but if that still works, feel free to DM me.
