I'm aware of the law. The issue is in your way you tell me what to do. In my way, I don't tell you what to do. You can't legislate personal issues out of life. Over it.

That was an actual sentiment. Clearly this is personal for you. You've already conceded by suggesting that a man wouldn't have to look at the results of his paternity test. That is functionally no different than turning down the test beforehand, except it wastes money. But what if you need the results in the future for legal reasons!? You can still run the test at that point in time, changes nothing. The only way you can back up mandatory tests is if you're going to make viewing the results mand…

Sorry life is such a struggle for you.

Your argument seems to be that if you have the right to something, it must be done for you, and you shouldn't have to actually exercise that right. Tell me, since the Civil Rights Act passed, do we mandate African-Americans sit at the front of the bus in accordance with their right? We do not. Making a decision for someone is equally as unjust as denying them a choice.

People smoke. People Drink. People ride motorcycles. People cheat. Thank god we live in a place where I'm free to make decisions that you think are bad for me. You're making lots of arguments for why you should opt to have a paternity test. You haven't made a single argument as to why it should be mandatory for me to take one. If my wife cheats, what's it to you?

This is only about mandatory paternity testing. In this case, leading by example (insisting you get a paternity test at birth even though it's not mandatory) would protect you. How can you possibly argue that a voluntary paternity test doesn't offer the same protections as a mandatory one? If they don't work, what exactly would be the point of making them mandatory? And Again!! The hospital works to ensure the parents go home with the correct child. Are you arguing that a father doesn't mind goi…

I take issue with you saying that tests done after birth are for the mothers assurance. They are for the parents assurance (in so far as the hospital is concerned). I think you underestimate the burden on an already overloaded system. I don't feel the benefits outweigh the costs. I would never deny someone else that protection. If anyone wants it, I want it to be available at their request. What I don't want is legislation simply to round off the uncomfortable edges of life. I think it shows a t…

"Pussy-begging", really? This has nothing to do with chivalry. I'm not standing in front of or protecting my girl's opinion. I have my own. I think it's stupid and needlessly wasteful. Do we test everyone for cancer if they don't show symptoms? No, we don't, because that would fucking stupid. I can see that this is important to you. It doesn't need to be important to me for you to get a paternity test. You don't need to be suspicious, it just needs to be something you believe in. The avenues are…

You might have just glazed over it, but I'm a man not a woman. I don't consider myself a feminist. I am against shit that doesn't make sense, and your shit doesn't make sense. Of course a woman could lie about it, my point still stands. If your wife "fucking around" on you scares you, that is your problem. Act like you've got a backbone, look your wife in the eye and tell her you want the test. You don't need the participation of others. I have no interest in the "economies of scale" to lower th…

What you mean the little 10 cent vinyl bracelet they slap on every newborn? You're comparing that to mandatory paternity testing? And you've transferred our loose statistic for infidelity over to crib switching without blinking? And you're ignoring the fact that everything done to track the baby once it's outside the womb to ensure the baby leaves with the couple it came in with equally benefits the father? AND I'm being sexist against myself? What an astute argument. Losing a baby is the hospit…

So, by your retarded reasoning, every problem should be ignored unless it affects 51% of the population. Incorrect. My reasoning states that a problem doesn't need legislation when it only affects 10% of the population and by simply asking for it, there is access to a solution. you claimed that the mandatory paternity tests "infringe on their right of man to say no to them" I don't even.....there isn't even anything contentious here... if you made paternity testing mandatory by definition you've…

Fine, let's roll with your 10%, that means 90% are legit. Which means you still can't make the assumption that you're doing a favor for the majority. I don't need to find you a man who wants to be cuckolded, I just need to find you someone who doesn't want to celebrate the birth of his child with a state mandated witch hunt. Right here, that's me. I want you to be able to get the test. I really do. I vehemently deny to let you tell me I have no choice in refusing one.

The "National Coalition For Men"!! What a totally legitimate news source. They sound as un-baised as they come! Nary a jilted ex-husband among them I bet. When you're done reading that why don't you just pop on over to this peer reviewed journal that puts the rate closer to 3.7%? Here are my last points and then I'm over it. There is a very good and very strong reason our legal system operates on the premise of "innocent until proven guilty" Don't talk about being unselfish. What you want is to …

And you're wrong to consider it so. Your examples all have repercussions for the greater public if they aren't in place. Cheating wife? Not so much. This isn't a large scale problem. It's a small scale problem with independent recurrences. You're asking to force something on everyone that only affects 2-4% of couples with kids. You don't trust anyone with a uterus, fine. Get tested for everything under the sun. But the empirical data isn't there to support testing every baby that pops out. Fact.…

The justification wasn't privacy, it was intrusion into private matters, as in the right to make personal decisions. Which, frankly, you're foolish to willfully give up. It makes perfect sense for hospitals to offer access paternity tests. It's also prudent to offer them in a discrete way. I don't, however, see any reason to burden every other new couple, or the system, with a needless accusatory procedure just because a handful of you on rocky ground are too chicken to pull a doctor to the side…
