One more thing I forgot to add -- one way of making someone feeling comfortable approaching could be to just be happy around your friends. Just the act of being friendly around those you're already comfortable with could serve as a social proofing process, basically projecting to everyone around you "I'm a nice person, I enjoy other people's company, and will probably enjoy yours." A little thing, but it will make a big difference.

When it comes to how you appear BEFORE they approach, don't even worry about that. At that point you're basically a blank canvas that guys will project they're feelings/level of confidence onto. In other words, if they don't start talking to you, it's kind of they're problem and not yours. Not worth spending time worrying about it. HOWEVER, if you want guys to be happy and feel vindicated that they worked up the nerve to talk to you, do as others have said; smile, laugh, and be touchy feely. Bei…

The older methods rely too much on canned material, and the newer stuff focuses on inner game, being congruent in what you say, having a strong reality. I mean, yeah Mystery does well with his openers, but a lot of it has to do with the fact that the dude is alpha as fuck and gives off a dominant vibe. Also, there is a step by step thing of open, attract, rapport, close which is kind of bullshit. It's just too over-generalizing, especially for something as complex and wonderful as human interact…

No. The reason it's the most famous book from the community is because it's the most interestingly written, not the most enlightening. Plus the community has changed a lot since then, and some of the books core tenets have basically been abandoned since then.

Sedditor Don't even worry about picking up chicks or anything like that: The biggest thing you guys could get out of this is to start thinking of yourself as a value-giver in the world, not a value-taker. Value-takers feel like there isn't enough for them. They put fences up around themselves, hoard the happiness or love they've scraped up and worry about losing that, rather than focus on how they can gain more. Value-takers suck the fun out of situations, they put others down to convince themse…

A few questions to ask yourself -- Do you feel any feelings of shame toward your feelings of attraction toward women? Do you "friendzone" yourself toward your women friends and act like their girlfriends, because you're scared of presenting a sexual vibe toward them? What kinds of girls are you attracted to? Very feminine, girly, sharply dressed in ways that emphasis their femininity, or more androgynous? My thinking is this: The first two questions could be a way of examining whether or not you…

Oh man this sounds awesome. I haven't paid attention to stuff like this in a long time, but I'm really starting to examine how things like this in my language can either make people feel really comfortable, or vaguely uncomfortable or anxious, and not realize why. I think my own state has an interesting way of influencing whether I use those words or not too.
