Well, I DO live in a state with mandatory-arrest-the-male laws regarding all cases of DV. Not to mention a more-than-passing-interest for over twenty years in studying human speech and physical mannerisms regarding perception of affects, lies, social manipulation, etc. These guys at least believed they were telling the truth. I really feel that many women don't understand how little it takes to get a penis erect, especially when that penis belongs to a teen approaching his biological sexual peak. You misunderstood my point. There are jurisdictions where, legally speaking, a woman who gives consent while having seemingly any alcohol in her system can call it rape after the fact. There are countless resources available to rape victims to aid in recovery. There are demonized resources available to false-accusation victims to aid in recovery. At this point, I frankly don't give a flying fuck over which might be worse. They're both terrible and terrifying. But the social reaction and acceptance causes those suffering the latter to generally feel far, far more marginalized than the former, and that I consider to be the worst of it.

Another fun part of courts is taking the context of the situation into account. The guy had spent a significant period of time "inside" the joint, in which violent overreactions are the norm. He had, in essence, been conditioned for a while to unleash everything he had if he felt his life was in danger. The judge and jury took that into account.
