Unfortunately there are no peer reviewed journals on the subject of the derogatory nature of calling women 'chicks' because of this subject being very niche. Therefore, there's no evidence that shows women don't like being called chicks. Anecdotally, however, there's a fair amount you can find. I've never met a women in my life who has liked or felt neutral about being called a chick with the exception of around two. Right, but that doesn't invalidate another persons feelings. If a person is upset by manspreading, there's a cause behind it. It could be ignorance to the issue, peer pressure, etc. Telling a person they "need to be sent to a third-world country for a day and enjoy their public transportation for a reality check." isn't constructive. You can be aware of more pressing global issues but still want to inspire local change.
