that is patriarchy… Edit: I feel like this entire sub is completely ignorant of what feminism is or what patriarchy is. The majority of complaints here are men pointing out how conventional gender roles are not benefitting them.

Most if not all of the problems that so called "Men's rights activists" are pointing out are results of the exact same system that feminists have been criticising. They are all issues that fall under feminism and have always done. The thing is that most "MRA" guys have just conditioned themselves to see feminists as the enemy and have probably not read any feminist literature at all but rather just seen stupid propaganda memes on political outrage websites.

Different people fight for different issues. They however all fall under feminism. I just suspect that many guys here prefer to label themselves "Men's rights activists" rather than "feminists" because they think it makes them sound like pussies at the same time they complain about not being allowed to cry.

Feminism is also about mens rights. All of these problems that men face are part of the same patriarchy that feminism criticises.

then it means you should probably start talking to someone about estate planning Daydreaming about what you would do if you were rich doesn't mean you necessarily have to plan for that scenario. Odds are he will never be close to being in that situation.

Are you suggesting that his marriage to her played no part in his ability to make the wealth that he did? Amazon only happened after they got married. And they had 4 children together. You think he could have made the same amount of money if the responsibilities of their family weren't shared that entire time? That's what marriage is. You are no longer an individual. You are a mini corporation with two shareholders. That is the agreement from the start. In which case the money was always theirs,…

Why exactly is a challenge against a patriarchical naming system pussypassdenied? It is completely arbitrary which parent a child is known for. I know of famous people older than me who have their mothers name and in my lifetime it has become more and more popular to name kids after both parents name and some people are adding their mothers name to their own. This is definitely not pussy pass material. This is a legit criticism of patriarchy.

She is an abusive asshole, but you title says that that's not the problem you see. Clearly a misogynist. Edit: Just because you try to find socially acceptable ways to hate on women doesn't mean it isn't obvious what you are doing. You are only fooling yourselves.

It's only funny based on a misogynistic foundation. Similarly to how racist jokes aren't funny except if you already have a prejudice baseline where you accept stereotypes as true. Otherwise they just fall flat. In this case, it's not even a joke. Which makes it even weirder that you would try to pretend like you are supposed to hide someone else behind failed humour. I think that's exactly the reason why people want accusers to go to jail. I seriously suspect they have a rapist mentality and they think that if a bitch snitches on them they should be able to make her pay for it. Just compare the attitude people here have towards rape in general. They are way too focused on the extreme minority of false accusations and don't seem to care at all about the vast number of rapes that never get solved.

This? Is this seriously why? Compared to all the other shit that happens in the world, exactly this is the reason? Sounds like your attitude is more driven by pure misogyny than any rational approach. Or are you just mentally roleplaying what it would be like if you were a professional football player that is constantly getting laid? Most normal men don't like high n count women What is that supposed to mean? Is this even true? I am not aware of this being a huge issue for most people. The problem isn't your personal preference in women. The problem arises when you use your personal preference to control other people.

Not working in it self isn't a problem. It even says there that those men aren't even looking for jobs. There might be some underlying problem. But the single fact that a certain statistic isn't interested in working and isn't looking for jobs is no reason to imply that doom is upon us.

What exactly is this random statistics supposed to tell me? So, men dropping out of society is referring to people not wanting to work at jobs? Jobs are stupid and boring, nobody wants to do them. There is no debate. As long as people realise that it is a simplistic and erroneous analogy, no problem. The problem isn't people not understanding the analogy. I would have thought it was the left overs of a dying patriarchy. Men believing they should fulfil some role that isn't needed anymore. Why do people go to church? It's just an institution based on a self replicating belief system. It's also efficient for bringing up children and dealing with the government in regards to the property that is often created within such institutions and the disputes that can arise around that property and wealth. We can just as easily ask why humans form corporatio…

Definitely not the question. It's amazing how many think this kind of objectification is acceptable. Not because objectifying women is bad nor that it is misogynistic. Not being able to see complicated human relationships as other than broken property is way to limited for an intelligent approach. You already set up an example where the answer is to throw away trash. That's just misanthropic.

Sounds like you are justifying being overworked. People need breaks to be productive and not even getting lunch as a borderline workers rights issue. Why do you allow for such diversity within the religion of your cultural background but pretend that it doesn't apply to other religions? No, it was not a sexual collective union of men. It was an institution whereby the father and husband was the ultimate decision maker within a household, where the family was a corporation as such. We aren't figuring out how to replace it. Individualism and liberalism has done a pretty good job of it. It had already been replaced by new institutions long before it became completely obsolete.

I don't think that I am giving credit to myself. We did that. Your whole comment is just one big contradiction. You are including yourself in the group of achievers. You are also arbitrarily choosing th group so that you will be included. Then you speak of you in plural, as if you are a part of it. Do you know if it is the same feelings? Sure Edit: I don't care if you want to live in a mindset where you believe that the world is in a battle of the sexes and that you are somehow on team men and that you believe other men are actually on your side, or that women are somehow against you. However, it seems to me that those who are startled by #metoo are mostly men. I don't see much else than support from most women. The problem is when people address this as two equal sides of the same subject. That is simply not the case. It is a constructed narrative being repeated by a group of men who emphasise false rape allegations while at the same time often almost denying that rape and sexual harassment even exists. The truth of the matter is that 1-2% of allegations are found to be fraudulent. When we compare that to the ratio of rape that actually gets reported, the ratio of reports that aren't dropped by the pol…

Which is part of what people mean when they talk about rape culture. People in position of power shouldn't be having sex with those they control. That's basically what statutory rape is about. Maybe because by default you aren't aware of the repeated harassment that women experience. You might also be seeking out material to confirm your own beliefs, such as the posts on reddit about false accusations. "The ruling class". Women in nobility did little of the ruling. They were more like "along for the ride". Every man needed someone to take care of the household. Laws were, in general, put in place solely by men. Women had little to no access to the legislative procedure. Within nobility, women ranked lower than men. Men allowed themselves to take girls from lower classes if they liked them. They prevented lower class men from getting into nobility. Amongst commoners, women ranked lower than men…

Let's assume that only one of the men is interested in anal sex. And there you go... 25% of the men and 100% of the women, all the while they were having just as much sex.

That nugget of truth is accepted as long as it follows the rigorous scientific method. The problem is mostly the unscientific implications or message that people draw from their limited and partial understanding of the research they believe they understand. That goes for many other aspects in life, not just TRP or other mating strategies. I would also like to add that I do not believe there is such a thing as Team Blue. There is only the Red Pill. There is no coherent ideology or message of Blue…

Keep in mind that we are not critizising social science findings here. We are pointing to the lack of scientific support for many RP theories. It is the RP that seems to be mostly pseudo-scientific. You have a healthy level of scepticism. You should point that in more directions. They main point here was the lack of scientific support that the RP has, not to say that social science has somehow disproven it. Way to change the subject into a fallacious narrative. TrumpStyle

evolutionary strategies don't fit into neat little containers the way social scientists would like them to This just sounds like you have no idea what you are talking about. We can just as easily say that reality doesn't fit your ideology as well as you would like to. As soon as someone starts saying that most scientists don't know what they are talking about, while not having studied in that field at all, should always ring warning bells. In the sense of r/K, humans are clearly a K type.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/09/17 12:06 AM
3

Again, you just say surely, as if that is enough to support your hypothesis. There are other theories that are used to explain different approaches to child raising and the number of children people have, across many social sciences. r/K is used to describe the difference between species. They are strategies that are built into their genes and their life cycles. It has nothing to do with individual choices of humans. The number of children per woman has dropped drastically over the past 200 year…

There are plenty of research papers about what women are attracted to and different features in men. The papers do not use the dichotomy of alpha/beta, as most of the RP bloggers choose to do in their interpretations, but the features they look at often resemble them. Such as arrogance, strong jawlines, height, etc.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/09/17 06:04 PM

Sure it is. But are there scientists that are actually applying that to humans? r/K is used to describe difference between species. It's not really used to describe a difference within the same species.

Yes. The difference is that most people no longer need to build a fire to keep warm. In modern times it's solely a hobby. Edit: Did I get downvoted by a survivalist that takes his hobby way to seriously and expects others to do the same?

Exactly. There are other reasons and explanations for people's behaviour than it all being some feminist conspiracy or some other external factor. For example, like you pointed out, life is mostly not about survival anymore. Which everyone would agree on is a good thing. No matter how manly someone thinks it is or isn't. Posers are 80% of any group, RP is no different. Because ideologies and other theories are used to describe the world around us. There is no one who is perfectly made according to some ideological guidelines. People will always follow ideologies. Pseudo-Scientific ramblings. Do not forget that humans evolved as a group species with high levels of trust and co-operation. The majority of society is driven by the "betas". Just because a guy says he's single, doesn't mean that he isn't in a complicated sexual and emotional relationship with a certain girl. There is no solid thing as a "Girlfriend/Boyfriend". Economics can explain this trend pretty well. Marriage is no longer an efficient institution since there is no longer a relative advantage of being a man in the work force. Jobs are not labour intensive anymore and household chores are no longer time intensive. Thus, there is no need for people to stick around when the romance fades. Don't fool yourself into believing that people were somehow "more happy" in the past. Divorce just wasn't an option. People have always married because of the benef…

The developing world needs to go through the same phases and evolution that the developed world had to go through in the past 300 years. We can't just pat ourselves on the back and judge other cultures who still haven't gone through the changes. It didn't just happen automatically. The rise in income and the demographical shift was necessary for "democracy" and "feminism" to happen in the first place. Fucking women is the only thing that you should get out of TRP. It is a guide to sexual strategy, and although it can have other benefits and implications, TRP should not be your sole philosophy for life. Life is just way to complicated for that. When people start to expand TRP over to politics etc. it starts to break down pretty fast and contradict itself. At some point, people become adults and have to be held responsible for their adult decisions. Now, this director needs to be held responsible for abusing his position in his profession to pressure his subordinates into enduring violence and engaging in sexual activity for his pleasure. It's simple. Don't fuck people who are working for you. Fire them and see if they still want to fuck you. If not... well it clearly would have been abuse.

Yes, and that is a public contract for everyone to see. That is a contract between the two of them. There is however no such contract in this case. The implication is clear. She was an actress and he is the director. How is there no implication of abuse of power if an employer repeatedly engages in sexual activity with his employees? Like I said, it might well be a tradition. Loads of things are traditions. But we don't automatically condone things or accept them just because people have been doing them for centuries. I called him a creep because he is having sex with women which he has direct financial and professional control over. If it was just a personal relationship, who cares. But it isn't. why achieve power if not to use it? Why not just rape? I am not calling him a creep for being more or less attractive. I called him a creep because he has sex with his employees. She might well have been attracted to him and have desires. She doesn't have to be innocent. The problem only arises when you mix sexual activity with a professional work place. Since he is her superior and has control over her professional career, there is no way to determine the motives she had for engaging in the activity, and it doesn't really matter. You just don't have sex with people that depend on you professionally, politically or financially. That is abuse.

The problem with women is that they believe men will change, but they won't. The problem with men is that they believe women won't change, but they will. Personality can change as well. Communication and relationship especially change around the 2-years-mark. If you think someone is interesting and fun, why not just befriend them? Why interpret that as a reason to have sex with them and allow them into your everyday life?

People who do not realise why violent words can be used to describe sex have probably not had good sex where they have completely let themselves go and allowed another person to witness their primal nature. Well, in a "feminized" world, this is no longer called "being a man". This is expected of everyone. These guidelines are not gender specific.

Because humans are also way more than that. There might be some similarities, but alpha/beta is just way to simplistic to accurately describe human society. Like I said, we aren't exactly a wolf pack. BP might well dismiss some truths to be found, and useful guidelines. But TRP way over exaggerates the usefulness of the model once applied to humanity. All ideologies have bullies. Edit: You must put into context that most people in the western world are in some sense "feminists". The feminist movements of the 19th and 20th century had a lasting impact that have shaped the moral zeitgeist. Few people doubt the right of women to own or inherit property, to vote or to get married or divorced by their own choice. I feel like people give to much credit to certain ideologies, when there are underlying economic factors that pretty much set the course for the evolution of human society. Druglords are not necessarily more evil or cold hearted than postmen. That also happens to men. Sure, women might be more volatile in their emotions than men, but that doesn't mean some sort of trust cannot be built. The problem again is what you are trusting them with. If you are expecting a person to promise some sort of future emotional state, that is just absurd.

Good answer. In that sense I don't see how love can last, or why people should wilfully let themselves be blinded by it. Of course we can not control our feelings, but we can to some extent control our actions despite our feelings telling us otherwise. It's always a red flag when people continuously use a word, that is central to the discussion, while denying to define it. Are you talking about that rush of feeling when you see a hot woman? The red pill doesn't make men think like that. It was a quote from Star Trek and something that is not new to the world of philosophy. What does love even mean in the first place? The world has never had higher living standards, longer and healthier lives, less corruption, more freedom, more peace, less violence etc. etc. The only real concern about "sustainability" of the world is the level of greenhouse gasses we are putting in the atmosphere, but research in that field is constant or even growing.

Standards of living today in the richest countries is around $40.000 a year. The average Roman had around $400 a year. Sure, there are people today that live below the standards of living that the Romans were used to, but those are people that live on $1.25 a day and we call that extreme poverty. That kind of poverty is nowhere to be found in the developed world, and only in certain locations in the developing world. Comparing the average Roman to the average Anglo, Nordic or Germanic person is …

And yet we have different rates of development in different parts of the world, even though they all have patriarchy in common. The least patriarchical states in the modern world are also the states that have the highest standards of living.

Exactly, right now. And it has been rising for the past 200 years. No end in sight, except in the unrealistic doomsday media coverage.

Patriarchy gave way to individual freedom. In what way is women's right of property, voting rights and equal rights under law a part of patriarchy? When efficiency came from a lack of patriarchy, not a different type of it. All it's elements gave way for individual freedom and liberalism.

Living standards today are far beyond anything that the western patriarchy ever allowed for. In fact, the western patriarchy had to be broken down, sometimes violently, to allow for more efficient institutions (rule of law, free trade, universal suffrage, property rights) that lead to the greatest era of growth in human history.

1950's was post-first-wave feminism. Most, if not all of women's rights had been passed legally at that point. No serious institutions were changed after that. Society just evolved and grew, with the economic and technological boom, which rendered social institutions obsolete.

Considering I'm squarely Gen Y and not a Boomer, this doesn't really apply. It still does, since it is still the same dream. Your age doesn't really matter. Not even remotely true. A cursory glance at the squalid conditions of the poor in India would tell you that. Cherry picking. But the poor of India weren't doing so well 50 or a 100 years ago. Just imagine that everyone in the world had the same standard of living 1500 years ago as the poor people of India have to day. And the poor people of …

I wouldn't call 1950's America TRP is not based on 1950's America. That is just the most typical baby boomer nostalgic wet dream. "My childhood was so special. Everything was better back then." Except for that whole massive income inequality thing "You'd rather have the poor poorer, so long as the rich don't get richer" This is truly a weird idea that income inequality is somehow inherently bad. Poor people have more money now and a higher standard of living than before. The poorest people of th…

Yes. It did work. In a poor, underdeveloped world with little technological progress or growth. It doesn't work today however, which is why it broke down. All aspects of life are in general better now then back then. Sure, TRP is a philosophy on the relationship of the sexes. Glorifying patriarchy and ownership of women however is not. Slavery and monarchy also "worked".
/r/PurplePillDebate01/10/15 06:02 PM
2

That's just false. You do care a lot, it seems. Your flair states that "TRP is Truth". The types of societies you are glorifying were and are underdeveloped societies with standards of living comparable with the worst type of poverty. Societies where violence was rampant, lifespan was short, freedom was scarce and all types of luxury were exactly that, luxury. Everything in the world is better today. Better than it has ever been. In all meaning of the word. Your nostalgia of a forgotten heavenly…

The authors of Freakonomics did not prove that. That claim is even the most criticised in that book. This is just all around bad science. Sure, it can be a predictor. But that says nothing about a causal relationship. Good example of scientifically illiterate people waving statistics around without even knowing what they mean.

Not all single mothers are evil. Certain RPs like to quote studies that find that the children of single mothers are a group of people that are in more risk of committing crime, have mental illnesses, join gangs etc. They however are not careful in the examination, claiming causal relationship where there might only be correlation. They also seem to ignore other omitted variables that might affect these children. Last but not least, this kind of examination suffers from selection bias, since the…

Good point. I feel the main problem with TRP (or maybe the red pill community) is their drift into ideas about conspiracy and paranoia. Some of them feel as though they are "victims" of feminism, while denying their opponents the possibility of being victims of the patriarchy. That is where the theory ends and the delusions settle in. Although simple theories can help us make sense of the world and can be quite useful, they have their limitations since the world is complex and theories are only …

Price is also a function of cost. That's why they call it supply and demand. The demand is the value, the supply is the cost. And it's not "my way" of viewing things. It's just called economics.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/06/15 09:02 AM

Value and price are not necessarily the same thing, although they can be interconnected. Value is subjective. It differs from one person to another. Those that value the good more than it's price will buy it, those that value a good less than it's price won't buy it.

There is loads of literature in economics about how people form groups and how they form institutions that self enforce group behaviour from self interested people. If you are only self interested, it is a lot better to be in the group than to be an outsider. And why wouldn't women want to have sex? Organisms that do not want to reproduce get selected out really quickly in evolution.

I agree with TheGreasyPole. Slut shaming has and always will originate from women, not men. Teenage girls start trash talking each other before the boys in their classes even hit puberty. It also makes sense from an economic perspective. Women can offer men a service that is valuable to men, sexual pleasure. Men are often willing to pay a good price for this service... The red pill even claims that most men might be paying to much for it. They take women on dates, listen to their problems, fix t…

It makes sense that women drive slut shaming, not men. Men benefit from sluts. They get all the sex without commitment. Other women to not like this, since the sluts are underbidding them. Women want sex to be special for men, and sluts are ruining that perception. Why do you need a wife if you can just fuck a slut every other week? In economic terms, women are trying to restrict access to sex as a group, and the sluts are ruining it for them. If women are a union, sluts are the scabs. And emplo…

Is there a difference between "having depression" and "being depressed"? For a while I was not sure if I was depressed or not, but I had all the typical symptoms (not getting out of bed, barely moving all day, no aims, goals or ambition). I would still have described me as pretty happy. There were no worries, no problems and no hazzle. I never got a diagnosis, and I think it would just have hindered my progression out of depression. This is probably one of the biggest difference between men and women, individualists and collectivists. Men/individualists want things for themselves. Women/collectivists want things for other people. The problem around wanting things for other people is that it is a lot less efficient, because we first of all don't know if the person who we are wanting for, actually wants the same thing that we want for them. We might even do damage in our noble mission of trying to make other people happy, bec…

The world is not overpopulated. The population wouldn't have grown in the first place if we hadn't invented ways of sustaining the bigger population. Hans Rosling has given great lectures on this matter.

Being able to show intelligence and knowledge without shoving it in people's faces is attractive. It shows that you know what you are talking about, are confident in your knowledge and don't really care if other people agree with you or not. It depends on if your "talk" is about getting other people's approval or admiration. If that seems to be the point, it just sounds lame and pretentious.

Women are not inferior to men intellectually. Men just have greater variance in intelligence, i.e. the smartest men are really smart, but the dumbest men are dumber than the dumbest women. Average intelligence between the sexes is the same. Women just tend to be average while men have the possibility to be really smart or really stupid.

I think you need to read up on some history. The history and evolution of political movements can be really interesting even though you don't agree with them. Feminism wasn't invented in the 80's

Feminism is an ideology and has mostly, and really poorly, infiltrated government in the labor market. Not in the "meat market". I'm just saying that the metaphor starts to break down where OP starts showing lack of economic understanding and the impact of feminism on government. Before that the analogy was pretty entertaining.
/r/TheRedPill21/04/15 05:24 AM

Again, that is their problem. Also, there is no government agency in the real world that is comparable to the one in the economics example. And also, marketing, advertising and manipulation is not the same as price controls. This is just bad economics.
/r/TheRedPill20/04/15 04:35 PM

You start to derail after the story when you talk about betas overpaying for chuck. That is their problem, not yours. People are free to overbid in a market. You are acting like you own those slices of beef and that you are entitled to a low price. If you don't want to overpay for chuck, then go for the filet or just don't eat dinner tonight. Betas overbidding has nothing to do with your example of a government agency creating price controls.

We are not talking about obesity. We are talking about being fat. Strong people that exercise and are fat are in no way unhealthier than skinny people that exercise. Fat people that exercise are healthier than skinny people that don't exercise. You just don't know what you are talking about.

Fat people can be perfectly healthy, although a lot of unhealthy people are indeed fat. I am afraid you have no idea what you are talking about. Yeah, so it's just as absurd as people playing basket ball or football. The difference is that sports have the side benefit of being physically demanding and therefore keeping up fitness, which also pushes up the sexual market value. At the same time huge amounts of time spent sitting still, drinking energy drinks and sleep depriving oneself are a cost to the physical fitness of the body. That's why Beckham is more famous than Dyrus.

I don't know why you are being downvoted. This is exactly what alpha and beta means. Many red pillers want to remain ignorant to the fact that they preach treating women just as bad as they claim some women are treating men. Just in the opposite direction. Like abuse and manipulation can't happen both ways.
