Thanks for the kind words. Everybody's situation is different, and you have to find what works for you, but talking to people on this subreddit is helpful. Even just reading other people's posts and comments. It's nice to know we are not alone. Good luck and best wishes.

I will tell you about my situation, but I don't claim to have any answers. I kicked her out, but we never bothered to get an official divorce. We didn't want to waste the money when we could be adults about our situation. We have no hatred, no bitterness, and no children. I'm still on her medical insurance, and she is still on my car insurance and phone plan. We had a cooling down period, then did the friend thing for some time. Text messages, having coffee on Sunday morning and talk, mostly com…

Thank you for your reasonable and rational response. I am here for the same reason as everyone else, I recently posted that I was an emotional wreck because my ex had a heart attack and was going to have triple bypass surgery. I even admitted to crying about it. This is a safe place for guys like us to talk, vent, seek advice, etc I had no idea who you were and what your reputation was. That's why your post looked like some guy claiming to be past the stages of anger and caring about what the ex…

I'm not trying to be a dick, but... after 3 years, I'd imagine that you are doing much better, that makes total sense, and I am sure you've moved on in many ways. But...if you truly don't care about the x anymore, what is the point of this post? What does she care about? What gets under her skin? These are not the words of someone who doesn't care. I understand being bitter, I do. We are all here to help each other, and that includes the occasional reality check. Like I said, I'm not trying to b…

This is gonna get shut down. No outside links allowed. I'm not complaining. I'm just giving a heads up.

Hey man, I'm separated from my wife (no official divorce). I live in the house I bought for her and her kids. It's just me and two elderly dogs. When the dogs eventually pass, I can walk away. A free man. I'll be checking in on this subreddit tomorrow if you or anyone else needs to talk.

I've always spent holidays alone due to anxiety and social issues. Even when married. I'll try to check in and see if anyone needs to talk.

My opinion. No. And I wouldn't hook up with someone else either. Wait until after the divorce is finalized. Then I'd still try to hold off for 2-3 months. Use porn, toys, dolls, whatever it takes. I say this for many reasons. You don't want to look like you had something lined up. It's a bad look for her and her lawyer. You might not be ready. You or the other woman could get attached a you wind up in another relationship. Give it a few months, and get settled into your new situation. Once reali…

The ex and I had a good arrangement. She made dinner and did the dishes. This is an everyday grind. I took care of the cars, 4 of them, when they needed to be fixed I would spend Sunday my only day off out in the driveway in any weather and it sometimes would take all day. I did my laundry, took care of the dogs, and the trash and any handyman type stuff. She did most of the cleaning and shopping. If I made a mess, I would clean it, not leave it for her. All of that stuff was fine. We had differ…

I feel for you. I wish I could help, but I don't give advice on topics that I've not been through.

Update. She had the surgery, and everything went well. She is in for a long, slow recovery. I just wanted to let those who took the time to respond know. Thanks again.

Thank you for your kind words. She is going into surgery in an hour, I didn't know it, but I think I needed to hear that.

Dude, I was just venting about my feelings. I'm not looking for a argument.

No kids and I ended the relationship. We never got officially divorced because it's expensive, and I'm still covered by her health insurance, and she is covered by my car insurance. We don't hate each other. The marriage just didn't work out. I've tried to distance myself from her, but after 15 years, it's hard not to care about her at all.

I know how you feel. I'm a alcoholic, as much as I can blame her, I know my drinking was a factor.

I understand. I miss having a partner in life. Someone to talk to, someone to help figure out how to solve life's problems. Just someone to hug.I am the one who ended the relationship/marriage, and I still feel what you feel.

I feel you, man. I also wasted 14 years old. I now live in a big empty house with my 2 dogs. I have to cook, clean, shop for groceries, take care of the dogs, matain the house and yard work. And so much more, while working 60 hours a week to pay the bills.

I agree with these guys. Most men are not appropriated for what they do. I'm speretated from my wife, and she still takes advantage of me. Personally, if it's bad enough that you are posting on reddit, it's already too late. Walk away, bro.

I've been separated from my wife for about a year. Before that, the bedroom was dead. If I had to guess, it's been years. 14-year relationship, sex probably stopped around years 10-12.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
