It's not far-fetched though. We're still living in a time that our grandparents easily were alive during WWII (the majority at least) not to mention that, while uncommon, it's possible the guy's mother did all that he claims. I have a professor as old or older than my mother at my school who is short and feisty, not the kind to mess with. Don't know if she has two Doctorates and fought cancer, but you get the point. Everything the guy said is well within the realm of possibility.

One of my favorite police videos is the Canadian cops that got posted here a few weeks ago. The girl was bitching and moaning and being extremely violent resisting arrest. The cop finally got her in the squad car and then explained to the white knight bystanders as much as he could, all while remaining very professional.

Well, if instead of simply not having evidence to support their claim, the investigators found evidence against the assault claim, the women could be charged with false accusation, so I think a "scolding" (if you can even call it that) was a mild repercussion.
