It's about changing how you perceive the world, not how the world perceives you. You articulated that sentiment better than I could ever hope to. This stuff changes you man!

Huh, TIL. I've only been here for two years, but you think this would be the first thing they tell you.

Yes, yes, 1000 times yes. The last thing I want to do on my weekend is to babysit my wingman.

Here's something interesting I found. Don't fear venues where guys outnumber girls, because most of them won't approach. If they do approach, it's usually done poorly. I can't put a percentage on it, because it varies wildly (there are many factors in play here). For instance, guys will "man up" as they get more alcohol in their system as their night goes on. So, you'll have better odds at 10 PM than right before last call.

Dallas / Fort Worth here. We actually have a page, I just haven't done anything with it yet: http://www.reddit.com/r/dfwseddit I've been active in our local lair (non-affiliated with anything, and it is very hit or miss with the kind of wing you'll get), and I really like the approach that the Bay Area folks seem to have with seddit. That being the general philosophy of "friends first, wings second." I get frustrated when a dude expects be to bring him into a set I opened, when I don't even know…

Silly auto-formatting. I wanted the carat to point above to the quote.

Reading is not helpful. Best advice in this thread. Go out as much as you can, especially weeknights. Approach as much as you can. Find what makes yourself happy, then do it. Easier said than done, right?

Whenever I retreat inside my head, I like to remember that I am a giant talking monkey trying to reproduce with other giant talking monkeys.

but I often find it hard to find a subject I can open with i doubt that. more likely you just care too much about what subject you open with because you want the interaction to go well. sound about right?

Holy butts, how did this get 40 upvotes? awful lot of AFCs in here... (oh that's why she doesn't like me, I have no money)

Flip it around. --> That you don't give a shit about what other people think. Subtle, but important distinction. ;)

Bullshit. The main contention we had here is that Nice Guys™ aren't even honest with themselves about their own intentions (again not to be confused with people who are genuinely giving/caring - I know plenty of generous guys who do reasonably well with women. But at the same time, people don't walk all over them). Negs and teasing don't work on their own - you need to have the personality and confidence to actually keep the girl around. If you are a self-hating weak-minded individual, then that…

One thing that has really helped me improve has been going out with a clear, defined purpose. 100 sets has really helped me with that,

I thought one of the purposes of this sub-reddit was to help people learn to manipulate women. Some people may come here with that intention of manipulation or a quick fix, but a lot of the tactics and techniques do little more than give people the confidence to actually approach women. Because the core to most of the material that I've seen boils down to: be confident and comfortable with yourself, don't give a shit what other people think about you, and don't succumb to your fears. Manipulatio…

I disagree with the calling aspect. I know you want to appear forward and direct, but it often has the opposite effect and may come off as try-hard and needy. Especially if you catch her at a time when she can't physically pick up the phone, then it's harder to build up that lost momentum. Or if she is very attractive and gives out her number to several guys a night, she might not remember you 100% which will make a phone conversation... interesting. The logistics of text messaging make it such …

I find it makes me read things in his voice. He's a damn good speaker, and I'm in the middle of watching the Blueprint Decoded right now (which I cannot recommend highly enough).

I have a friend who's been doing pickup for 3 years, and is a great mentor to have. His advice is that online is a great supplement, but is no substitute for actually going out. It's great for getting your day 2 skills up to speed and getting to meet as many women as possible, but your social skills still need to be honed in via approaching.

I think the only "beta" thing to be doing at a party is not having fun and not making a fun time for everyone there.

Kind of like what they did with r/fitness? Every subreddit has this problem once it gets too big for its britches, and 31k sedditors might be pushing it a bit.

As a general rule, I'm ok with things phrased "what should I have done" vs. "what should I do". A lot of the noobies really need to understand that there are no "magic bullets", as with ANYTHING in life. There is no one particular line or routine that will get the girl that's guaranteed to work, and that's just the way it is! It's all about experience, learning, and growth.

We are saying a lot of the same stuff here. We both agree that the whole package is important. But at the end of the day confidence trumps looks. If you have no balls to approach then how good you look tends not to matter much. That's what I'm trying to say.
/r/seduction28/09/11 02:25 AM

Looks are a crutch, fashion is a crutch, money is a crutch, etc. They can help but you still need solid game to back these things up. For instance, I know a lot of good-looking guys who have no idea what to do when an attractive girl doesn't immediately want them. They also take it personally when a girl rejects them. I think that you are right though - you should always not just be satisfied with who you are and constantly strive to be your "best" self. For me that means practicing game a few n…

Yeah fucking own that shit! I went out a few weeks ago with what I thought was going to be 3 other wingmen, but they all bailed for various reasons. I ended up having a blast!

What clubs does your school have? Speech/debate, drama, improv, etc. would all be great for building conversation skills. That and just talking to as many people as possible. Shit man, I wish I had the advantage of knowing about this stuff when I was your age - it's great that you are getting yourself into social situations. I had over-protective parents as well in high school and the only advice I have towards that is to level with them being that you (presumably) will be out of the house next …
