Read "No more Mr. Nice Guy". A nice guy means not exactly being altruistic, but trying to comfort women, even against your own needs. It makes bitter in the long run.

Sure you want to tell the truth if she fucked things up. But I guess it's not so easy in OPs case. Why wouldn't you help another bro, if there's nothing to lose for you?

You will be happy again. You learned a lot. Read "no more Mr nice guy" to help you understand boundaries. Be good to yourself and your kid. Be stable, have boundaries. In the end you will prevail. It will just take time.

Selfish = Narcissism. Everybody has narcissistic traits (basically a human life starts with assuming the entire world is "me"). You train kids to respect the boundaries of others etc. But If a person is so self centered that they hurt others, it's called narcissistic personality disorder.

You should set your kids as priority and that they get a new normal as soon as possible. Dragging it out because you like it like that sounds narcissistic, yes.

You were separated. That wasn't cheating against you. Your relationship already ended and this was clear to you (you are aware you were separated).

I wanted just something. We had nothing. No friendship, no sex life (I was 7 years celibate because I can't cheat). Separated, now divorcing. Have a loving partner now, life's good.

If you stay in the same place, but divorced, it won't be good for any of you. When I said I want to separate, mine asked me to stay in house and to have an affair instead. I moved out, build a second home and found love again. Kids have two awesome places and it's calmer everywhere.

Thanks for taking time to explain it. It's awesome that you do the necessary work. Wish you all the best!

You seem to be capable of great assholery when you lose control. Do you think, other men or every men would have reacted that way to the "he put stuff in my drink" situation? No, people could have get sad, angry, isolate themselves, ponder over the relationship or play video game for 2 days straight. Anything - but not attacking others. You need to stay away from alcohol - it obviously brings the worst out of you. And dude, you need therapy or something to manage your anger. I hope you realise t…

You will find peace on the other end. Just make sure the kids are taken care of. You will be a great dad for them and build a good home once the responsibilities are clear and your then ex-wife will have to do stuff on her own.

Think of an emergency on a flight. There's smoke in the air. Will you put the oxygen mask on your kids or take the first one yourself? You first. You are the one in charge of the situation, you have to stay operational. If you poss out, you cannot help your kids. Same here. I don't know how good OP and their partner are at hiding their problems. But at some time, the kids will notice that the parents have a strange marriage. And you will teach them, that it's ok to have no boundaries and disresp…

Hahaha, my love language is touch and physical affection. Been in celibate for 7 years in my marriage since she just has no sex drive (even now after split up). It eats you alive. It's not selfish if you try to save yourself.

I don't take pills but I can stand pretty long, the thing is that I need a certain amount of energy to finish so after some time I can still perform but I know I can't finish because I am tired.

I hold kids (I have 3) outside of the calculations cause I don't see them as chore but I actually want to have time with them. We split them 50/50.

My housemaid is on top of chores with 3 hours every second day. Tells you something about SAHM being a full-time job...

In the first years there's massive progress happening in a human and it's a large difference if 2 years or 5 years. At 5 years the groundwork for trust is already laid out, of course it will cause trauma but not as severe as when you were 2.

I was basically for 7 years in celibate. I can't cheat and can't date multiple women at the same time. At the end she even offered allowing an affair - but I just can't do that and separated instead.

Don't fall for it. Had the same happening. She will promise anything to keep the status quo. And then deliver exactly the status quo. I separated last year, it's the right thing for us.

My guess is that too. My ex didn't need sex. Not with me, not alone. And she doesn't want a new partner either. Some people are just different, the problem is when they aren't aware of it and think it will work out.

I am like Germany after WW2. Defeated and without assets, but building everything from scratch, brand-new and awesome.

Separation, divorce, arguments - it's all okay if you can stay civil. You lost it and that was the problem. You should have said stuff like: "I don't feel loved (you neither ) and I think this play is hurting the kids because they won't learn what a loving couple looks like. It will be better for everybody when we separate." People get damaged from not understanding what's happening to them, at least give them something to work with.

Just to give you feedback on your action: I quit my last relationship because she drove home in the middle of the night without leaving a note or message. She left because she was pissed because I made childish jokes where she expected romance and couldn't sleep over it and drove home. She basically left me like an asshole would leave a ONS. I won't tolerate behaviours like that. If somebody tries to hurt me out of anger (with insults or violence) it's immediately over. No second chance. They ju…

I'd rather stay alone, have plenty of time for my hobbies and business than becoming the same kind of emotionless ghoul just to play their game. I like myself. Either I find someone who gets me or I will stay single.

Dude, thanks to the ingrained morals from my upbringing I basically lived in celibate in my marriage for 7 years before I realised I have only 1 life. I can't cheat (or even date in parallel). I have to cut the old thing to be able to start a new thing. And before the 7 years of nothing it was shit too. All the same excuses "maybe I feel like that when... [insert arbitrary moving goal post]" You can hope for a wonder or work with realities.

Dead bed for 7 years and no intimacy, hugs etc. When I moved out (50/50 custody for 3 kids, I have them 3.5 days of the week) nothing broke that wasn't already broken for years. So they didn't got bad grades or changed characters, they are the same as ever, no , it's better for them. Ex and I come along better now, because the only topics are kids related and we both want the best for them. Found a nice appartement, made it a awesome place with nice furniture, sophisticated LED neon stripes, syn…

Question about something general I see here: If she filed, she is a runaway woman. If he filed, she was so bad, that her man had to flee. In what group are decent (ltr) woman?

I had neither. But I separated and I am working on the actual divorce now.

Is she able to own her mistakes? Or is everybody else and the world as a whole to blame for everything? Can you have a civil discussion with her without personal attacks? (This also applies to your side btw.) Does she have real friends? One thing that might not apply to every man, but a good sex-life compensates for some weaknesses. So a compatible sex drive is worth a lot imho.

You need to work on your picker. There are woman out there who are good persons. But obviously you picked the wrong one last time. Don't rush into the next attempt unless you found out what red flag you missed last time or you will repeat your mistake. And you are lucky, it took me 18 years (due to funky circumstances). Now I restarted everything, my company is successful and I found a lovely woman with a growth mindset. Edit: Mine started like yours: totally different person before marriage, co…

Dude, I muscled through the same mess for 18 years. It doesnt get any better. You will lose yourself on that path until you feel sorrow and grief for the man you once were. And it isn't even about being right, good or bad. If you two can't openly communicate about your needs, this will feel like being buried alive - for both of you. I tried books, council etc, but she didn't like anything of it and refused to look into matters. When I spoke about separation at the beginning of last year, she was…

If she became a jehovahs witness, run. That cult will mess her up (I made it out after nearly 40 years).

Saw that many times. A large guy is assertive and determined, while the same behaviour from shorter folks gets seen as short man syndrome. I figured there's no short man syndrome but society just treating short people less favourable.

And btw, I am also caring for my ex. We have 50/50 and it's important she can be a good mother for the kids. So I basically let her have everything to prevent her from dropping into poverty. I waited with separation too long out of fear for the kids being thrown under the bus. Now I can process a separation/divorce with least possible damage to all involved.

I am in almost the same situation as you. And I choose to take a chance. I know there's a reasonable probability for not having 1 partner for the rest of my life. But a new partner holds the chance for something better (and at the start every new relationship is awesome). So between this and going back into a set-in-stone joyless and sexless room-mate situation, guess what will bring you more smiles, better perspective and new impressions?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
