I can't possibly do that, buddy. I don't agree with a word you're saying but I don't find it useful in any way to discuss this here. I just don't see people changing their fundamental viewpoints, however warped those are (yours, that is) over comments on reddit. I'm not in any way interested to continue. I'm sure you agree with me that it's a bit weird to discuss this here! I see your point, of course. I think you must be very young. Brain death isn't the same as brain damage. The brain dead aren't often kept alive, not for long, and that's the way it should be--they are practically dead. But brain injury is something else, and it has many stages. What you're saying is indeed mean and heartless, but that's not the greatest problem. The problem is that you don't seem to know that the infants can't be just pulled off life support when they look bad, because nobody on earth, not even the finest doctor knows how they're going to end up in the long run. A low birth weight baby with jaundice and failing organs might turn out perfect, thanks to interventions of medical science. So, shall we sacrifice them? That's correct and thank you for having the guts to admit it. You don't get it. To be able to get it, first you'd need to understand that the father wasn't attempting to write a medical textbook. He was writing a story from his own perspective. The story isn't about medical procedures, it's about the FEELINGS of a father who went to the hospital with a child who had slightly raised temperature, and left the hospital with a child with brain damage. You don't sound ridiculuous. Rather, you sound somewhat disturbed. What makes people chanting in and leaving rude comments on a father's story who simply described what he saw and was painful for him? In which world does this father, or any father have to be a doctor to have feelings or write stories? It doesn't matter what caused what; it's impossible decide from the data we know. Nope, you didn't read carefully. He doesn't think the cerebral palsy was caused by the spinal tap. But everything he saw was sufficient to make him wonder whether the seizures could have been caused by the repeated and failed attempts and the excruciating pain. We don't know everything that can cause seizures, but there were cases when extreme stimuli provoked their occurrence. You seem to lack the understanding that you don't have enough data to draw any medically sound conclusions from this story the father wrote.
