Personally, I would want to sleep with someone before being in a relationship with them because sexual compatibility is huge for me. So that would be 2-3 months of dating/getting to know someone before sleeping with them. But that depends on you and your own preferences.

Honestly, from a girl's standpoint, six months is way too much and I wouldn't even believe a guy if he said that. Furthermore, I don't even want to wait that long. I would say 2-3 months sounds better and more believable.
