Tomassi assigns zero agency to women and infantilizes them while painting with the broadest brush known to man.

Obviously, yes, blended families exist. For christ sake, please touch grass and meet people. A good friend and coworker of mine has been married for 11 years to a single mother; they have had a child of their own and are thriving. They are wonderful people and have a dynamic and loving relationship.

I agree that men are treated as a utility. I guess my argument is that since men have been in charge of the system for so long, we have brought these discrepancies upon ourselves. We shot ourselves in the foot by creating and maintaining a culture and society that put women in the home and made child rearing their responsibility. We shot ourselves in the foot by making education unequal between men and women for centuries, economically hindering women to the detriment of themselves and men who s…

Yeah, patriarchy is antithetical to egalitarianism, was I not clear on that?

Yeah, and the tender years doctrine was informed by cultural expectations that enforced a reality where women took on the role of childcare. I think that doctrine is informed by cultural realities. Feminists wouldn't think that if it wasn't the case where women historically the the U.S. did most of the childcare, and men distanced themselves from that responsibility. I think the tender years doctrine is awful, and I think an ideologically honest and consistent feminist (like myself) would argue …

Furthermore, gender abolition would be the ultimate way of addressing the grievances between men and women. If everyone was just a person, instead of man or woman, we could actually get egalitarian policies.

You're whole argument is based on how we differently define patriarchy. My argument is consistent with my definition of patriarchy. Your's seems to be this like mad max dystopian version where we treat women EXCLUSIVELY as like breeders/blood bags, in which case, your argument would be consistent with that definition. I think we both make very good arguments within our own definitions, however, I think my definition is the one used in common parlance and how we view patriarchy in the present day…

Patriarchy is a social system in which men hold primary power and predominate in roles of political leadership, moral authority, social privilege and control of property. Men control most of the property/wealth in this country and most of the positions of power. Because they occupy most positions of power, they can and do legislate/dominate the moral discussion of issues. We do look at women as trophy/sexual objects to be conquered and possessed, as opposed to women who look at men as markers of…

Yeah, if someone asked me if I was a feminist, egalitarian, or a mens rights activist, I would answer yes to all 3, because I don't think they are diametrically opposed to one another. Granted, I'd have to give a lot of nuance as to why all three are valid and can form a cohesive ideology. But yeah, all 3 sides engage in a lot of misandry and misogyny. I definitely believe if everyone came closer to just egalitarianism in case where men and women are exactly the same, we'd be alot further. Like …

I agree, I think feminism and men's rights activism have some good points. For example, sexual liberation from feminism would inherently help the incel community for example, because we would stop idealizing men as success objects, and stop stigmatizing sexual promiscuity. If women stop idealizing men as father figures/protectors, and encourage more independence and autonomy among women, then we get a more honest interaction between the two sexes. MRA wants to address things like divorce court a…

It's not rights, it's social treatment, which men can benefit from too. I hate that men are considered disposable, or that they can't be capable single fathers, that's what our culture has come to decide is the objective reality. I'll agree that many arguments from feminism are dogshit, however, the egalitarian principles it strives for should be acknowledged, instead of being intellectually lazy and throwing the baby out with the bath water.

That's why we should take on the patriarchy. Feminism and dismantling aspects of the patriarchy is beneficial for men. The reason men get wrecked on divorce is because we have culturally constructed that women are better at caring for children than men, along with the fact that we teach more skills involving emotional labor and care to young girls then we do to young men. They are not genetically better at raising children (save obvious things like breastfeeding), and are not genetically more de…
