"Your father was shitty to you, haha burn"

Why does her father walking out on her and her having trauma because of it mean she got burned again?

I might have phrased that wrong. One of the Jezebel writers made an article that suspected her of lying before she actually made a confession saying she was lying.

Actually, there was an article about this and another article on the matter prior to her confession being very suspect about her.

On one hand, I agree with your point that the goal is essentially equality on both sides, from a self described point. But then when you look at everything else happening in this thread, there's so much more critique of feminism than there is anything else. If your thread is calling for a "real conversation", there needs to be a discussion on the pros and cons of both movements rather than just "this is why feminism sucks". That's why there's no conversation - both sides are too eager to jump at…

Sometimes, the men's rights movement and feminism can be too busy attacking each other to see where they share a common ground. It seems like this thread title and some of its comments are good example of that. It's not a tactic to discredit men's rights, it's the legitimate strive for equality.

I don't know, it isn't hard to find examples of feminists saying how the patriarchy hurts men. This is just exactly one of the cases they're talking about.

Luckily, feminism today still pretty much believes that the advancement of women at the cost of men is not a good thing. While there are sects that hate men, there's sects of all sorts of people who hate all sorts of people.

We should include meritocracy as one of the considerations in determining these things as part of a goal to undo the unintentional social engineering we've done that puts a grossly disproportionate amount of males in a disposition to enter STEM fields than female. There's culture attached to these things. You yourself mention it when you say there's a larger proportion of Asian Americans in STEM fields than African American ones. Is it not something merit worthy to overcome the odds society has …

You can think of it this way: if you want it to be fair and even, then the same amount of money going to men for STEM majors should be equal to the amount of money going to women for STEM majors. However, because the ratios of who enters these fields is so uneven, then we're also going to see more men applying for STEM scholarships. The point of scholarships that are geared towards woman is to balance this out. Men aren't being "cheated" out of money, but the money that is appropriated for women…

It isn't being taken out on innocents though. You're confusing the idea of punishment and perk. You are not being punished if you are not receiving the perk of more scholarships to choose from. It's not like there's no scholarships STEM majors can apply to - it's just that certain people believe that it is important to give access to their scholarship to women because they are misrepresented in the STEM fields. Nothing about what happens to males is being affected. And it's more than about the d…

If you can't see the fact that the imbalance is a real problem in our society and that social justice isn't some mumbo jumbo that helps liberal minded people sleep at night, we can't even have this discussion. This isn't even a matter of feminism, and you've already demonized me as someone who's out to destroy males for all their privilege.

These type of scholarships exist to attract more women into the STEM fields because there aren't a whole lot of them. It's not about "women get preferential treatment", it's about "why don't more women want to work in STEM fields?" I personally don't buy too too much into what the XCKD comic is trying to portray, but I've written a few papers on the topic. One of the conclusions I've come to is the fact that there aren't nearly as many women role models in the fields. How often do you hear about…

No, that's okay, I think I know enough to make a clear judgement here.

Wait, are you arguing that women aren't oppressed? I understand the Men's Rights movement and while I don't necessarily agree with it, I think it'd be totally fucked up to say they aren't.

this is one of the only male-friendly spaces on the internet I'm sorry, but I'm really curious to know why you think this is the case. The internet is largely made up of males. Beyond SRS, Reddit is largely a boys club. A ton of websites are no different.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
