I think a shit test means: if you lose your composure then you are beneath me in the pecking order. Otherwise, you are higher up and deserving of my respect. Good point about portrayed high value. Sounds like a narcissist. His ability to fake value to others comes from the fact that he has successfully fooled himself first. But never envy him. The price of his deluded self-image is extremely high -- a gnawing unnamed fear and dread, inability to form healthy long-term relationships, inability to be close to anyone, inability to engage in self-criticism.

Yes, that's closer to what I meant. The fact is that most new ideas don't work and all new ideas are met with resistance, skepticism and disapproval (much as we like to pretend otherwise!) This causes fear in the mind of the innovator, which a man can overcome by an effort of will, but which women, who identify with their emotions, cannot.

I think women can do anything that people already know how to do (e.g. concert pianist, chess grandmaster). What they can only rarely do is innovate because this causes social push back. The resulting emotions literally change their minds.

Spot sociopaths by acting beta and watch how they immediately move in to exploit you. (Didn't somebody already write about this?) For a narcissist, note how he cannot take even the tiniest piece of constructive criticism. For a psychopath, how he reacts coldly to offers of help or support. (Not so sure about his one. Advice appreciated.) For a Machiavellian, ask questions about stuff you already know and in which they have an interest, then listen if they answer truthfully.

Meathead The very word is suggestive, isn't it? I have no use to see how big my biceps can get Yes. Healthy people will have toned and slightly larger biceps relative to unhealthy people. Yet enormous biceps might be unhealthy on balance; I don't know. Another assumption of RP is that women are attracted to men with large muscles. I wonder whether this might be legacy of growing up in rougher communities, where physical stature is accorded more respect by other men.

Thank you. I haven't heard it elsewhere, it's just a concern of my own. I certainly would agree that a healthy body is a boost to the brain. However, above a certain threshold, might there not be a trade-off between muscle bulk and brain health? For present purposes I'm assuming there are no steroids or other drugs involved.

I'm trying to understand the motivation for this. Masochism is the obvious contender but aren't masochists typically dominant in the rest of their lives? Only other thing I can think of: the cuckold fantasy is that of having snared a higher status female than he has in reality. I guess if he has a choice of men to sleep with his wife he would then pick the highest value male. Whereas if it were masochism he would pick the lowest.

Based on an idea in Keith Johnstone's excellent Improv and on my own observations I conjecture that the best fathers have mastered the art of raising and lowering their own status according to the situation. With children, they unfailingly give discipline and leadership when required but they will also act low status when being playful. Children seem to respond very warmly to this.
