It's almost a Houdini. The next step is blasting them in the face the moment they turn around, thinking you've finished.

I'm interested in what your weight training experience is. Are you an advanced/elite power lifter with years of training experience with a degree relating to exercise science, or someone who is angry that your progress is piss poor compared to mine? FYI, I'm about to start another training cycle, where I plan on getting my bench up to 405 by spring time, naturally.

No problem man. PM me if you have any questions or concerns when ever. I'm always happy to help.

So, basically what you do is start by lifting as heavy as possible (with a lighter warm up before) for 10 sets of 3 reps with a movement stimulating many groups of muscles. Then you do high volume lighter weight on each muscle individually? Yup, warm up and work my way up to heavy weight, then go into higher volume exercises to target individual muscles. I've always been told that high reps would be contradictory with muscle growth because it trains endurance, especially if you did a different w…

That's what I do. My typical bench workout while prepping for a PL comp looks like this: Bench 1x10(135,185,205,225) 1x5(245) 10x3(275-315 depending on my starting point due to injuries or strength loss from dieting) Always adding 5lbs a week to my top sets OHP 3x10(135) Face pulls 5x15-20 Cable Tricep extentions 5x15-20 Cable curls 5x15-20(My tendinitis flairs up from DB curls, whereas cable curls have practically eliminated my elbow pain) Lateral raises 5x15-20 Cable chest flies 5x15-20 Planks…

I'd suggest you do both, and I have a bachelors in health and human performance for reference. Get strong so you can use heavier weights for your volume work.

Will be doing less weight. You cannot sustain 85% of 1RM over 5 sets. Maybe you can lift 75-80% instead. You're lifting less weight, by definition you're less strong. You don't know this. And even if this was true, you could still do 85% for the first 3 sets, then 82.5% for the 4th, then 80% for the fifth. This still leads to a higher total volume. you're going to have greater recovery problems If two extra sets of bench lead to recovery problems, you may need to see a doctor. you'll have more D…

I could only bench 275 because I was hurt. If I wasn't injured my starting 1RM would be higher, obviously. Because I was hurt, as I've said multiple times now. Half of weight loss was probably water weight. So I lost less than a lb of fat a week, someting that isn't a big deal since I'm a fat bastard. Something I have said multiple times now. I'm sorry that my account isn't in line with what ever experience you have. By the way, what is your experience? I'd love to know why you are so sure of yo…

Believe what you like, but it happened. Recovering from an injury and running a good program will do that for ya.

4 months, but it happened. A lot of that 30 lbs was water weight as well, so take that into account. I went from 295 to 272 in 5 days manipulating water weight for competition before, so I'm guessing at least half of the weight loss was water, which would put me at just under a pound of fat loss per week for those 4 months.

If you're adding 5 lbs to your work sets every week you're a beginner, Or you are running an advanced bench program. I know this because I ran such a program and lost 30lbs of body weight and added 80lbs to my bench in 4 months. Granted my bench started at 275lbs due to being injured, but still.

Short arms and legs are good for the squat and bench, which is why he was a world record holding powerlifter for a while. Despite the short-ish arms he could still pull 800lbs+ on deads.

If you do 5x5 you will not progress as fast as if you do 3x5. 5x5 is higher total volume than 3x5, so it will produce faster progress, even if the 3x5 can be performed with marginally higher weights. 5x5 will require more rest time to progress which will ultimTely prevent you from lifting heavier weights as soon as you would if doing 3x5. 5x5 is hardly any volume, and shouldn't slow anyone's recovery unless they are a total novice or dying of some strange disease. I personally recover just fine …

Agreed. Unless you are lifting an absurd amount of weight, are fucking jacked, or doing something stupid as shit, you may as well be invisible. Gym novices are a dime a dozen, especially with the holidays coming up.

It's called power-building, and it does work great. It works because you get the best of both worlds. You get the strength gains from the heavy compounds which allow you to lift heavier for your high volume, thus faster progress in developing muscle.

Dan Green is a good example of what a shredded power lifter looks like

Have you not seen strong guys that don't have good muscle definition? One is going for volume (aesthetics) while the other is going for strength. That's just differences in body fat. Dan Green is a good example of a strength athlete who is ridiculously shredded.

Let me get back to you on that. I'm in the gym now and hate writing on my phone. EDIT: Let me try and explain my self wouldn't keto+intermittent fasting+heavy cardio make you real dumb real quick and actually burn what little muscles you have? Dumb, yes, at least for a week or so before the body acclimates to the change. As for muscle loss, keto diets, HIIT, and EC stack use are all very muscle sparing, so long as you also continue resistance training along side all this. Muscles in use don't ge…

I stay keto while dieting, besides refeeds. During a bulk I eat everything and anything.

Chaos and Pain is like that. Every thing they do is over the top. Their pre-workout Cannibal Ferox is powdered autism.

That's why I like my method. Keto just changes what you eat, IF changes when, the EC stack is just popping a few pills every 4 hours, and HIIT training is just an additional 10-30 minutes on a workout, depending on how much you hate yourself and your lungs. Of course it still all just boils down to eating less than you burn in a day. I've been toying with the Apex Predator diet a bit too which throws out IF for chugging protein all day and saving most of your calories for one big meal. Yesterday…

Keto, intermittent fasting, EC stack, and HIIT training all thrown together make weight loss stupid fast. Only issue I've had is getting the will to actually run, but that's mainly because I'm a little running shy ever since I've had a severe grade hamstring strain.

Do you ever plan to stop? Not until I literally can't lift without putting my health at serious risk. So until I'm old ass shit or completely broken, I'm not stopping. I feel to good after lifting to give it up. Is there a point where you will say "No, I don't want to get too big" No such thing as too big in my mind. I want to be an elite Powerlifter, so that comes with filling out my 6'3" frame, which means competing at 275lbs plus and lean. Currently in the process of getting down to a shredde…

Agreed that keto is the way to go. Progress is fast, consistent, and it's easy to put your self into a food coma eating as much meat and cheese as you do on the diet while staying under you daily calories.

Starvation mode is a myth. It's just people failing to adjust their caloric intake as they lose weight, and not realizing that the weight they gain back after eating at a surplus isn't fat, but mostly a combination of glycogen and water weight.

I guess we have different experiences then. Everyone I have trained has seen much better results in shorter times with higher volume. Hell, I took one kids bench from 155 to 215 in 3 weeks by making him bench 2 to 3 times a week, doing 10 sets of 3 reps at 87.5-90% of his max. Granted I always tell them to eat and sleep a lot more, so that may have an influence in their recovery.

The first thing this guy should do it start cutting. The sooner he isn't fat, the sooner everything becomes significantly easier.

Exactly why lifting is great. It never gets any easier, as long as you are pushing for new goals. A goal of benching 135 turns into 225, then 315, 405, and so on.

5x5 is technically better as you get a higher total volume for your workout.

Increased muscle recruitment, which is easily achieved as a beginner because they have no clue how to lift yet.
/r/TheRedPill15/11/16 04:27 PM

You can get stronger and build some muscle as a beginner, while losing fat. No reason not to start lifting, plus you'll have your form dialed in by the time you are ready to start bulking, so you'll progress a lot faster since you won't be doing stupid shit like half reps.

Oatmeal tastes like sadness but holy shit is it filling. 1 cup dry is 300 calories but is more satiating than anything short of an equivalent amount of calories in leafy greens.

That 30 lbs doesn't necessarily need to be all muscle. Being fatter gives you better leverages for lifts, mainly the squat.
