That's so funny. Yep, I'm the OP :) I accept your apology, thanks. I do want a husband, just not sure about kids because I don't want to make a foolish, fear-based decision. I could have had them by now. There's a reason I don't, you know? I didn't have the best role model of a mother. And I would NEVER want to cause a child to feel the way I did growing up. My parents' marriage was no walk in the park either. I think, in all honesty, that I feared making the same mistakes as my parents. It was …

Thanks - Would you ever believe you'd make a virtual friend in a woman you targeted? :) I'll stick around, but my hope is that we can all listen to each other. And that eventually it'll help us all move on from the pain and not be angry and bitter and resentful. Because that hurts no one but ourselves. The anger here doesn't hurt me, but it's poisoning you guys. Don't do that to yourselves! Give yourselves a chance to be happy, you know? Ok, I get that you had really shitty experiences with wome…

I'm not personally offended. I know everyone has their own experiences, and those color our outlooks. I empathize. Plus, I'm not the type to insulate myself. I always am interested in hearing everyone's POV, not just what I want to hear. Believe it or not, it's helped to hear both the harsh and the encouraging - it's all helped me pinpoint what my own POV is. No need for the abusive reactions, though. I brush that off. Life is hard. I wish none of the ugly stuff ever happened to you guys, and ev…

I hear you. I actually think I was selfish when I was younger. Now, I fully appreciate that a good man deserves a good woman. And I'm a much better woman now than I was then, in my heart. My looks have really held out. For now. I'm lucky. I still get a lot of male attention. But I'm more interested in being beautiful on the inside now. I think there are a lot of divorced men out there, for whatever reason. Or men who never married but happen to be good guys. I think I would make a good companion…

I've never wanted or needed a guy's money. I still don't. I make my own. I also don't want to "lock a guy down." I have more respect for men than that. I'll always be independent, but companionship is a beautiful thing. When it's healthy.

True. I worked much more than I partied. And a lot of the parties were industry parties. I have achieved great things with my career.

Choosing a bad boy is about ignoring reality and not making real choices, based on real information. It's about extending childhood, indefinitely. Totally agree with this.

I believe in the power of stable men to help women get grounded. Happy for your mom :)

Thanks :) I agree, it's a confusing system. Smarter women than me navigate it really well. I may not be young anymore but I'm still hot, for now (referring to comment below). My life is not over. I'm much wiser for the wear. And I met someone while I was traveling in November. He is possibly the most amazing man I've ever known. We are in a long-distance relationship but who knows with those things? All I know is I want to be the best possible version of me FOR me — and hopefully for him too. He…

Yes, I totally own my decisions. Of course my fate is my fault.

I'm on the fence about feminism these days. I don't disagree with you. It's a slippery slope.

You think? I guess it could be. I definitely could have made marriage happen if that's what I really wanted. I just never dreamed of it. I've dreamed of having a great love, though. And now I'm doing the work to be a great love for someone. I'm pretty sure that would be enough for me, and make me very happy — and making someone else happy would make me very happy. I know the guys in this community have had awful experiences with marriage and family. Though that makes me sad to know, your POV hel…

Thanks :) I'm doing the work, not making excuses, and not lying to myself or anyone. Life is a journey. I'd rather not live it with me eyes closed.

The problem is the bad boys still want me. I know it's easy to write me off as old and shriveled, but I still look great and much younger than my years. But I finally have no interest in those guys. I'd rather be with no one than a guy who "doesn't give a shit about me." I don't need a ring. I've never dreamed of a wedding and told my parents they should take my "wedding fund" and use it to put a down payment on a summer home! I want to give and receive love. I'm talking with a few great guys no…

Thanks. That's kind of you. I'm not convinced of that. My last relationship ended Dec. 2105 and we were very bonded (another guy who will never commit!). Before that, a much longer relationship ended in 2014. We lived together and were super bonded. I'm pretty sure I can still bond, but I have to continue working on myself and being a grounded person and the type of partner a good man deserves. My problem is that I was never able to settle. To me, settling meant being in a relationship with some…

There are other spiritual pursuits besides becoming a nun. I recently spent a significant amount of time in Bali, meditating and doing yoga. Many people live there — and other spiritual communities — to deepen their practice. I met an amazing guy when I was out there. After achieving great material success, he felt empty inside. So he's been on a deep spiritual journey for 5 years, and it's taken him all over the world. He takes such good care of his mind, body, and soul. We bonded, and still ta…

I hear you. That particular guy — it wasn't because he wasn't cool enough, no. I was already in a relationship when I met him. My boyfriend and I mutually adored each other and had a mutual infatuation. Though that "good guy" was clearer the better choice, I choose the "bad boy" because I was already involved, it was hard to pull away, I felt bad for even going on two dates with "good guy" — it was technically cheating — and I didn't have the presence of mind to make the best decision for my fut…

Haha. Here I am! Someone private messaged me to point me here: It's all good. I wish personal peace for all of us - me, you, everyone who's been hurt.

That's a good question. You're right, it's partially in my head. I never actively pursued marriage or having kids in any practical way, which, the more I think about it, leads me to believe it just was never for me. The last thing I'd want to do is bring a child into the world if I wasn't 100% sure I even wanted her or him. And I certainly don't want to do it alone - I believe parenting a two-person job. I think marriage can be a beautiful thing if both people are ready and are willing to make t…

I'm sorry that the guys here experienced that. Really. Everyone deserves happiness, and no one deserves to be shit on. I have dated some great guys, but even my healthy relationships ran their course. My first college boyfriend and I still talk. He's divorced, and I'm happy he's moving on with his life because his ex caused him grief, and he deserves better. Another of my wonderful exes moved to Asia for work, and that split us apart. We remain friends too. I had a great love in my early 30s. We…

He was actually clinically bipolar long before I met him and was taking Lithium. I loved him, but he was very sick.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
