I think this happens when a woman feels she is much more invested in a relationship than the guy is. This is then a desperate attempt to try and get the guy to show or do a massive investment and get on the relatively same level as her. From what i have read, it does not boost testosterone itself (except from one time peak around day 7 after the last ejaculation), but it does boost the ratio of androgen : estrogen receptors in favour of androgen receptors. This effectively means that your body becomes more susceptible to testosterone, and less susceptible to estrogen.
